    Default Naughty Quilt

This has got to be the most uncooperative quilt I have made. Piecing went fine but then...It did not want to sandwich well, used spray baste but had to redo it because it just would not go together smooth. Then used the wrong bobbin thread color and had to remove a lot of quilting, Got that done early this morning and the stupid thing just would not make it easy to re-quilt it. Finally finished the quilting with only a few tiny wrinkles. Started to attach the binding and it kept going off track so I just put it away for now. I think I will have to press it well again and maybe trim a bit to square it up again. Naughty Quilt!

Good idea to put it away for a bit I'm sure it will be fine when it's finished.

Beth, I named "those" quilts, Quilts With Attitude.........QWA's!!!! Those that develop this syndrome, I fold up, and tuck away for another day, and blow them a raspberry everytime I walk by them ROFL!!!!! Eventually they get the memo, then they get finished!

    Glass of wine might help.

The quilt I made for my oldest last year did this to me too. I spray basted and could not believe how much it shifted! It was a very pretty top but oh the pleats.

Whenever I get really frustrated I leave it for a while. Otherwise, I make even more mistakes like tearing or cutting materials when unpicking.

My sister and I have a solution for this problem. Once a year, we meet and swap "naughty" projects (half- or nearly finished quilts, bags, sweaters) and laugh. Then we mail the finished ones back to the owner, which may take months to happen. What a relief from the guilt, no?

If you have a serger maybe you could tame (Square it up) with the serger before you bind it. I've just started doing that and I find it helpful.

Quilts with Attitudes...love it! One of my oldest UFO's I finally managed to finish this year would definitely qualify. My daughter wanted me to do a tshirt quilt of her sorority stuff...killed three sewing machines, every seam was frogged numerous times, had to start putting it together three separate times...and even then when the LAQ got it some seams had to be ripped and adjusted. Thanks to a very understanding and patient LAQ, the THING finally got finished! I had no idea what I was doing when I started this nine years ago...learned a lot, including the fact some quilts are simply stubborn and talk back to you. Whew!

I try to just put them away when they start doing that. One of the Christmas gift quilts this year, I could not do that with as I needed to get it to the quilter ASAP and it decided to give me a fit. I spent more time ripping out that quilt in one morning than I had the whole month and a half previous. But it did get done and is now finished.
