Default Need your expertise and help for looking out where to find....

    Dear all,
I am asking your support for a some online shops apart from the MSQC. I will be visiting my nephew in Seattle in April (he has a year of studying in the US, so I can use him for a sending adress...) and will be able to take things back directly from the trip.

For the sake of making the most out of it, it would be beneficial to be directed to some sites which I can order from. Templates are really quite dear in Germany. Batting is out of scope as I couldn't fit that into the luggage (anyone with a tip where to get this in Germany with a good price?), other helpful gadgets to pick up? I was looking for the bloc lock things, quite pricey but handy?

    Thanks so much in advance.

I order online about 75% of the time and love these stores:
    Whittles Fabrics
    Connecting Threads
    Bear Creek Quilting Company
    Emerald City Fabrics
    Fabric Depot
    Craft Town Fabrics
    Homespun Hearth
    Sew It Is
    Stitch and Frame

If it's really expensive for you to get Batting in Germany, maybe you could bring along an extra suitcase (or buy one while you're here) just for batting. Using 50% off coupons (or when it's on sale) at JoAnn Fabrics you can get Warm & Natural 80/20 batting so cheap!

We have several quilters who live in the Netherlands (Klasien and Lenie) and Andrea in Germany. Perhaps they can share with you where they purchase their batting.

I second the Fabric Depot. I also use the Fat Quarter Shop.

Fatquartershop.com (they have daily flash sales)
    fabricbuffet.com
    todaysquilting.com

After MSQC, these are the three I use the most.

Quilthome.com for fabric, but I maybe you are looking for other supplies than fabric.

Rike, I order my batting at quiltmania.de. I like the unbleached cotton batting they have there and it's less expensive than elsewhere. There are other online quiltstores in Germany where I look for sales every now and then like quiltecke, quiltfun or Sue's Quilt Shop.

If you don't mind having a thicker and firmer polyester batting you could also take a look at the 'Holland Stoffmarkt' that tours throughout Germany (just google it). I guess they may also have cotton batting but I 'm not sure. Most likely they also come near where you live. It's a good source for fabrics of any kind and supplies too. Less expensive than in the fabric stores.

When you visit the US I would suggest to go to a quilt store and look there for fabrics too. You are going to feel like a kid in the candy store. LOL And get some basic rulers like a 12.5 inch square ruler.

For ordering fabrics I would also recommend fabric.com. I order there all the time besides from MSQC and I love them. Don't forget that you are allowed to import goods for approximately 430 Euros without paying customs duty.
If I can help you with anything else just send me a pm.
