Still working on Christmas gifts :)
Hi All,
I haven't been around much the last few weeks. I've been doing a LOT of knitting for gifts for nieces and nephews and my parents - so far 8 pairs of mittens, 8 hats, one scarf and three beards - one more pair of mittens and three hats left to go - and then I'm making for hubby and I, plus scarves for coaches (I think!).
I have been quilting a little this week, finally, making decorative cushions for my sisters. Two sets are done, one set left to go. Hoping to have all gifty stuff done by the end of this week and get working on my own stuff!
All in all, it's been a lovely Christmas for me and my family. Bring on 2015!!
Terri

Terri, you just wore me out - but I'm curious about knitting beards. Do you have pictures?
Re: Still working on Christmas gifts :)
Merry Christmas Terri, glad you had a good one. Would love to see your projects, as I have been tempted to do some knitting a too. I am especially wondering about the beards, not sure I need one though
Re: Still working on Christmas gifts :)
I've watched a lot of tv and my shopping was mainly for yarn at Michaels, lol. Can't complain about the knitting being too taxing. I'm a pretty quick knitter, so that helps!
The beards are fun to make, and the boys (between 17-24 yrs) loved them. I purchased the pattern on ravelry.com because I liked it best. Ravelry: Lumberjack pattern by Faye Kennington I used Lion Brand Thick and Quick and got three beards out of one ball, pretty sure I will get the fourth one that my other nephew requested when he saw the pic of the cousins wearing them, lol. I didn't make the hat in the pattern, just the beard and attached it with buttons to another simple more slouchy hat made with a chunky rather than super chunky yarn. This beard pattern is well written, and not hard just requires attention because every row is different.

These are my sons and my nephew in their beards :)
Re: Still working on Christmas gifts :)
That is so funny. I shared the pattern site with my DIL, as she is a knitter.

Those beards are hilarious!
Duck Commander has brought them back in style so!
We saw a similar combo at a gift shop in Ohio (Coons Candy Shop - Buckeye quilter will know where that is!) that was priced at $25!
My nephews all wanted them!
They also had Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle style hats that were knitted with eye masks incorporated!
Re: Still working on Christmas gifts :)
The beards look a lot like the base for my viking beard/hat I made a few years ago.

No, I don't sell on Etsy. I've thought about it, but I'm worried it would take the fun out of my fun, lol. Do you knit Lori?

I don't, but one of my dd's does crochet sometimes. I was selling on Etsy making some Hawaiian Childrens dresses and did really well. The secret is to take REALLY good pictures like you have already.. I sold on Ebay too. It wouldnt hurt to try, you never know :)
