    Default Cute layer cake idea

I got this in an email from Pinterest this morning, https://www.etsy.com/listing/1081470...urce=Pinterest

Easy enough for a layer cake. You would probably have to cut the large square down a little. I thought it was cute and easy.

Wait that's not right you would have to cut the samll one's down because of the sashing. Christmas brain freeze. lol

Maybe use charm squares then cut the large squares to size from yardage. Love the colors of that quilt, soft and girly.

You have layer cakes just sitting around? Just like the pastries, they will go stale . . .

    LOVE that quilt pattern!

    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

You wouldn't if you use 1" strips for your sashing, that will finish 1/2" if you are accurate with your 1/4" seam. Your layer quake blocks finish 9 1/2", your charms grouped in fours finish 4 1/2" + 1/2" (sashing) + 4 1/2" = 9 1/2" as well.

Edit to add that, after watching the pic a second time, it seems the sashing strips appear to be 1 1/2" finished, so they were cut 2". Therefore the smaller squares must have been cut 4 1/2" from the start. You are right.

What do you suppose makes the sashing look ribbed? Is that just quilting in lines? Or --it looks like pin tucks on my screen..? I love that pattern too, and the colors.

It's just straight line quilting done well. It's a cute pattern.
