I would only trim off a half inch on the charm squares. Then figure what the sashing would be. Actually, the sashing can be any width you want since it's your quilt.
I have thought about doing the Delectable Mountain pattern using a layer cake square and a square of muslin. Put pretty sides together and mark a diagonal line then stitch 1/4" on either side. Then press to the dark side. Then trim to 9" squares and cut either three 3" strips or four 2 1/4" strips. What do you think of that? Would it work well?
Cute pattern... you could do the sashing on the charms first then just trim the finished block to 10" square, right?
Thanks for the math help :) I think I might get another layer cake. The one I was thinking of using I was going to do some Dresdens. More to play with :)
