Binding...is it worth trying to get done today?
Hi folks,
So I finished a quilt for my husband and attached the binding to the front. I'm planning to hand bind it to the back. It's supposed to be a Christmas present, but I'm woefully behind. I can bind fairly quickly, but usually do it over the course of a few days. Is it worth it to try to get it completely bound today? How long do you think it would take to do a 80x52 quilt?
Thanks!

Sure, do as much as you can. If you don't finish it will be OK.

It takes me about three hours for one that size. Don't make yourself crazy it will wait for you enjoy your holiday and finish it when you can. Merry Christmas

Ok, I think I can stick with it for 3 hours. Hopefully my fingers will last. It's worth a shot.

I had the same dilemma, but didn't have the binding made for 2 quilts, so I just serged the edge for now. My brothers will still be surprised. My sister's is still just a top, but I am ok with that. Did get the binding on my son's quilt today.

Take a deep breath. Now breathe. He, of all, will understand. If he doesn't, tell him you made the quilt for yourself.
Be warned. I am BORED.
This could be dangerous.
When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
They are usually 90 degrees.
A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

Haha...it's actually a tardis quilt and we're both doctor who fans so it would be funny to tell him I made it for myself. I'm halfway through. I did used some wash away stabilizer as a template for some of my FMQ, so I'm actually trying to get it bound and washed. It'll look kinda funny covered in stabilizer, but you're all right - he'll understand if it's not finished and it will only take me a day or two more to get it done.
Thanks guys!

Why not put it in a box with a note that it will be finished soon?

Oh my gosh Bernice you amaze me. It would take me about 15 hours. I am always amazed when you say you can bind 2 queens and a lap in 1 day. Your fingers must fly.

I agree with Nan. That is amazing. It would take me many more hours than that.
