Default How do I migrate these colors?

How do I migrate these colors?-orangegreen.jpg

I got these charms in a pack (got 2 packs) and I pre washed them (they are now 5"x4,3/4") But I can deal with that. I intend to make HST's with a cream. However, there are 4 each of the 5 oranges and 4 each of the 5 yellows...but....there are 4 each of 8 greens! I intended to do a migrating pattern...start with the green, then the orange, then the yellow...or the yellow then the orange.... anyway... I know I can omit 4 of the greens, but I'd rather not do that. I want to use them all. There are 4 of each, so making HST's will give me 8 HST's of each shade.

Any suggestions on the color migration pattern? I am so bad with putting colors together! The pattern I intend to use, (unless someone mentions something I like better!) is HST's and have the colors just go straight across...start with the green because it is the darkest, then the oranges, then the yellows and I figure back to the second set of greens, but in my mind...that kind of looks closed in as the dark greens are on the edges. Or if I do all 8 of the greens migrating into the yellows/oranges...but I don't think that will kind of look bottom heavy. Any suggestions?

Probably need to make all your blocks first. Then play around with the layout different ways to see what you like best. Gosh, prewashing precuts sure leaves a mess to clean up. I am kind of happy I dont have time to prewash anything and I totally love the crinkled look.

Take pics of your layouts for us to see with you. Looking forward to seeing those colors layed out together. I have a charm pack of them too.

I think Kgrammiecaz is right take pictures then come back and get some help with the layout. Question do you always wash your pre-cuts? I know most manufacturers of them don't recommend it.

I would go from the darkest green to the lightest, into the lightest orange to the darkest. Neither bottom nor top heavy.

I pre wash because I don't want any surprises when I wash the finished quilt...been there, done that. Shrink and bleed, ruined a whole quilt I made. I only sometimes like that crinkled look. Depends on the pattern and design. I have seen some that looked like they were old and worn out...and they were just made. And since I use my stash for other things besides quilts.. I don't want to deal with 2 stashes...one pre washed, on not. THese only shrunk 1/4 inch on one side..the other is 5" and very easy to "clean up". I wash them in a lingerie bag. I bought from other stores that shrunk to 4,1/2 on each side. and when you have 100 charms shrinking that much, your finished quilt is going to be alot smaller than planned.. unless you plan ahead and add at least probably 2-4 more charms to each row, each way. Which again could mess up the planned design. In this case.. I dont' like surprises...so I Pre wash everything.

    I'll try that. I hadn't thought about backing 2 lights...it was always 2 darkest!

And as usual....there is odd numbers. Why can't they make everything even? these are 2 packs ....Once layed out...that bottom row of green.. only 4 shades, while the other 3 colors have 5 shades. And....the one shade of light peach....there are 6 of just that one shade (3 per pack) while all other colors/shades have 4 each (2 per pack) Drives me nuts!!!

You could use diagonal bands of color. Since you have more green, you could start with darkest green diagonally top corner to opposite bottom corner then work out on each side with lighter greens, oranges, then yellows filling the remaining corners.
