Prayer Quilt?
I am in the process of making a quilt for a dear friend of mine who is dealing with a few major medical issues for herself as well as being faced with becoming a caregiver for her husband. I find have been praying for her and her family as I am sewing it. It was on the design wall when some friends came by and told me about prayer quilts we took some time to pray together. Is this considered a prayer quilt, if so when I present it to my friend should I tell her about it? I am new to this whole concept.

Re: Prayer Quilt?
Not familiar myself, but a search of the Prayer Quilt Ministry states that they tie their quilts and say a prayer as they are knotted.
I don't think there is any reason not to call your quilt a prayer quilt, especially since you and your friends have prayed over it. More blessings!
Be warned. I am BORED.
This could be dangerous.
When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
They are usually 90 degrees.
A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

Re: Prayer Quilt?
I would think any quilt made while prayers are being said for someone........would be a prayer quilt. Your heart and prayers are going into this project for a particular person in need. You could put something on a label or in a card letting your friend know that you made the quilt while praying for her.

Re: Prayer Quilt?
As a member of a craft group, some crocheters and knitters created prayer shawls. Some of the poets on the forum wrote poems to accompany the gift shawls. I always thought this was such a nice idea. I thought you might want to look at the poems. Perhaps you could adapt one of them to attach to your gift quilt (changing a word here and there as needed). There are several to choose from - just keep scrolling down the thread where they have been archived. The poets there do request that their names stay attached to the poems. Good luck to your friend.

Re: Prayer Quilt?
Prayer shawls, quilts, bed jackets, foot runners are used here in my area frequently. And yes, if y'all took a moment and prayed for your friend and her family, it is definitely a prayer quilt. All of the lap quilts we make for the elderly in the local Nursing Home are all prayed over. As most of them have no family, it makes for such a wonderful Christmas present for them. I'm quite sure your friend will treasure your gift and your prayers.

Re: Prayer Quilt?
those poems are AWESOME to connect to donated prayer quilts and shawls. I bookmarked the page, thanks so so much. one lady I know who makes quilts for the homeless always put " Jesus loves you" on one quilt block so the homeless person knows Jesus loves them no matter what
I loved that
