    Default kinda discouraged.

I have at least 18 baby quilts made up. I wanted to give, yes give them to an organization that no one else was giving any thing to. The hospitals and Ronald house have many who give. So i met with one of the people at the SA and gave her one boy. I said, please get in touch with me for the others. Gave her my phone #. That was over a week ago. Have heard nothing else.

You have been busy. Could you bring the quilts to a hospital in your area and give to children that will be in during Christmas?

This is a busy time of year for most places like SA so I would cut them some slack.
Is there a pregnancy center in your area? the ones here always collect layette items to give new moms for their newborns

I hope they have just been busy. It is nice that you are trying to help a group that doesn't have anyone. Don't give up maybe after the holidays you will get that phone call.

Please don't be discouraged, sometimes the wheels move very slowly with these groups. And bear in mind this time of year, especially! What you're doing is very valuable, and will be extremely well appreciated. Though not related to quilting, music therapy took forever to set up. When it did, I had to finally set time frames and specific days, cause when the wheels started moving, it was like having a full time job! Just be patient, and keep in touch with them, if you get no results, move on to the next organization. It will all work out for the best. My sincerest best wishes in you endeavors, you're a very special kind of person to give so willingly of yourself.

The SA gets donations from many different avenues. You might check with your local police and/or fire departments. Very often (here) each officer or fire department likes to have items for kids (teddy bears, quilts, etc.) in their vehicles with them to give to children that have suffered a loss of some kind. Imagine the child that loses everything in a house fire receiving a quilt of their very own when they've lost everything else. Something to hang on to.

As the founder of Cyber Elves Give Back, I deal with Child Life Coordinators at 7 hospitals in 7 states plus children centers, welfare workers for foster children - It takes time to coordinate things especially this time of year. Parties have been in the works months in advance to make sure that children aren't forgotten on Christmas Day.

You can always go to your local police and fire department and give them a dozen each to use during their shifts for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - The week of Christmas through New Year's - A busy time for them sadly: Domestic Violence and Home Fires due to Xmas Trees.

Don't get discouraged, you're doing a great thing. The Salvation Army gets a lot of items as well as the Red Cross, they have procedures they need to follow.

    Blessings and Merry Christmas,

Very true Karen, they also like having little items of comfort for kids that are coming through other traumas that we would never wish them to have.
Do not give up hope sweetie.........remember many folks are really busy as other mentioned, and alot are away from their work for extended holiday time. You have a great heart and your quilts will be wanted.

Oh, don't be discouraged! What an act of love to make all those quilts! There are children out there who will love them. Be patient. I know our social workers in our foster care system love to have quilts to give to children in stressful situations. There are so many places for you to find homes for your quilts. I personally would like to thank you, on behalf of the children receiving these gifts and for any parents out there who will be blessed by your quilts. We will most likely never know who gets our charity quilts, but that's okay by me. God knows.
