I got a Brother NX2000 Laura Ashley model!
After lots of online research, I went to the only dealer near me.. looked and tried the Pfaffs, and didn't like them at all! I moved on to Brother and loved the Innovis NX2000 Laura Ashley model and LOVED IT! I get it tomorrow. I was totally shocked that the Pfaff didn't have the auto thread cutter! Not that that was a decision maker, but still....all I have looked at and that is a standard feature in most others. It was noisier than the Brother and the panel was harder to see than the Brother. And Brother has metal inner parts like the gears as opposed to plastic, so that was a plus. Ot was a bit over my budget, but since my husband wants a tonneau cover for his truck and and a few other reasons, he was very quick to say ok to the price! But it is my christmas present and my b-day is in January so I don't figure I'll get anything then, but that's fine! I hope this machine is as happy as it makes me! I trade in my Singer on it...was not very happy with it all these 3 years but I paid $500 for it three years ago and they gave me $400 trade in value so...I ain't complaining! Anyone have one? What's your comments on it?

I do not have one, but I wanted to let you know I agree with what you said about the Pfaff's. They are noisy!! My sisters, who has a newer model, sounds like a steam engine going down the tracks!

I just gifted my former backup Brother to a friend at work and pulled her out for a good clean last night. Yes, she purred like a kitten. Enjoy your new machine.

I was shocked at that. I thought the higher priced machines were sure to be quieter! But it wasn't. It was just the instant turn off kind of thing. Last time I was turned off so immediately like that was when I was out of high school, buying my first car.... 1976.. I LOVED that AMC Pacer car! SOOOOOOO CUTE...looked like a little bubble and just perfect and what I wanted. I had to have IT so when I went to buy a car...the AMC dealer was the first one I went to and opened the door of that Pacer...and thought I was opening the door to a bank vault! It was the heaviest thing and clumsey and just a total turn off. I didn't even drive the car! I ended up getting a Datsun!

Re: I got a Brother NX2000 Laura Ashley model!
That sounds great! So glad you got such a lovely Christmas/birthday gift! In 1976, my Well used Kenmore broke right before Christmas. I remember my husband and I looking at Bernina machines. Never in my wildest dreams would I think one would end up under the tree for Christmas that year, but it did! I'll never forget that beautiful box wrapped so pretty! I loved that present probably more than any I ever got! Still have the machine as back up 38 years later!
Enjoy your new machine!

Re: I got a Brother NX2000 Laura Ashley model!
I just watched the video and looked it up on other sites. Really a cool machine. I'm happy for you. I have decided your comparison to cars is the most appropriate for thinking about machines. Everyone has different criteria, budget, and preconceived notions of what is "good". I'm glad you found just the right model for you.

Re: I got a Brother NX2000 Laura Ashley model!
I certainly do!!! Not long ago, I brought an old workhorse to a dealer near my DD's house.. this guy worked with his Dad in the sewing industry for many years (industrial) and can fix anything.. he and my DH got to chatting and with their combined knowledge of "machinery"... I had lots of time to try out ALL of the Brother machines he had..right there ready to sit down with.. a great place.. I might add he only sells Brother and Juki...I have only ever had Husq. Elna Singer and Janome machines... so it was a surprise to find how fabulous these Brother machines ran.. I asked about them, having heard nothing but bad things up til' then about them..
He explained that the Brother of today is NOT the Brother of years ago, which were not great.. It's the only machine he will sell because of affordable pricing and performance.. I ended up with an Innovis80,,, (didn't need anything,, but could not help myself,, just had to own a Brother..LOL it's a wonderful machine and I use it a lot!!)
Anywhooo,, I walked over to the Laura Asheley machine and commented on the "name" being a draw:)... He explained that the LA is up there and above the Designer's...(Husq, my model is from 2000 and still does better embroidery than my friend's Elissimo)... for much less money..
So all that being said...you've got yourself a winner I think.. ENJOY.. and be sure to read EVERY page of the info that comes with and use it all... You'll enjoy being able to do so much with this one machine...Good Luck.. Hugs, B

Can't wait to see what you create!

Congrats on your new machine! You're going to love it! I've never had a Pfaff but my Husqvarna was so noisy that the first few times I used it I thought I couldn't stand it...it was so noisy. My new Brother is probably the quietest machine that I've ever had...and I've had plenty. Its even quieter then my Janome 7700 was.

Jean, that is so nice story! My husband could care less. It was a good excuse for him to be able to get a tonneau cover for his truck..."I allowed her to buy this machine, now I can get my cover!"...kind of thing. I dont' care. I got it! I have NEVER spent this much money on myself, muchless for anything just for me that isn't house hold necessity!

Gramma - Thanks for the info! Then name, although wasn't a issue of any kind.. I don't care the name, just how it works...but.. my grand daughter's name is Ashleigh..and she is the one that is alot like me and wants to sew and do crafts. I taught her how to make a lap charm quilt and she zipped through it like crazy! Then another one a few months later! So, it was nice the name is there for the memory too! But then again, maybe God is sending me a message. I have n't been able to see her in some time due to bickering adults...maybe this is God's way of telling me..."hold on, she'll be back!" LOL!

Re: I got a Brother NX2000 Laura Ashley model!
Thanks everyone for your comments and congrats! I am so happy with the purchase. I pick it up today. Glad to hear so many good things about Brother. Makes me feel good about my choice! I often have buyers remorse...thinking "what if..." or "was it the right one".. etc. So I appreciate the cheers! I'll post some pics and let you all know how it works! Right off I am going to like it as is quiet. That Pfaff was so loud and my Singer is almost as loud especially with the walking foot! That alone is a huge plus! Thanks everyone!

Re: I got a Brother NX2000 Laura Ashley model!
Just FYI if anyone "cares"...they have discontinued this model because Laura Ashley died. I know her from first her bedroom sheets etc, then she went to scrapbooking where i was at the time, and I didn't even know she was into sewing machines! But...the family pulled her name from the line so ...I don't know..do I have a "hold on to it forever as it will be worth something because she was a great designer"? hum.... don't really care, I'll have it till I die and bequeath it to my grand daughter and she wont' sell it cause it was mine! LOL!! But just thought I'd mention she died.. incase anyone was interested. The guy said that instead of just taking her name off the machine, Brother made a new one to replace this one and just added a few more things to it. That model was $3000!
