As some of you know, I'm working on a Fence Rail for my ill BIL... I used a Swirls jelly tool, and came up short two blocks...
I showed my friend, Maggie, a picture of the blocks, and told her that since there are no more Swirls jelly rolls, I would have to order yardage from M* , to finish the top.
Maggie's suggested I get yardage, but make three solid squares... I was thinking purple, green, and maybe black, or brown... What do you think?
I think I have some swirls.left over. At least i think it is. I'll go look.
I think it could be a very good idea.
I was four blocks short of an 8 x 8 Kaffe Fasset reds top and used four carefully placed solid blocks of the colour of the sashing to make up the difference. It turned out very well.
If it were me, I would take apart three or four blocks. Remove one strip from each, and insert a strip from yardage, that way your yardage will blend in.
I think the solid squares is a nice idea... rearrange the other blocks and put thm where it would be more "artistic" :) But why three? I think two is fine as well :) purple green and black sounds perfect to me!

can you post a bigger pix of the fabric think I might have a jelly roll the label has come off so am not sure is the same thing thanks cecelia

Hi Sandy sent you a PM. I went into my studio to longarm a quilt and sitting on top of some fabric is a jelly role. I walked over to see what I left out and yep, it's a swirls jelly role. So, let me know if you need some strips from it or the whole role.
