This was brought to my attention on the Bernina 440 yahoo group http://clovercatalog.com/wc/wc.pdf
this evidently is only a problem with the red clips. It was also stated that clips ordered from Amazon proper were genuine and the ones from Amazon vendors could be counterfeit.
