A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
Earlier this evening as I was working away on Quilt #2 (which became Quilt #3 - long fabric mis-cut story), I had just finished sewing 1 row of blocks tog (a rag quilt). I took it from the sewing machine (in the kitchen) headed for the bedroom where I had everything laid out to get the next set of blocks.
I quickly realized that there was a thread attached to the row (seems the auto cutter had cut the top thread, but not the bobbin thread (which was a newly rewound bobbin). I had pulled out about 30 ft. of thread when I turned to go back to the sewing machine.
Unfortunately MM had at that moment gotten up from his 'easy chair' in the FR heading for the - yes, the kitchen!! He is now wrapped 2 or 3 times, as he was trying to figure what he was messed up in. His turning with the thread flying, he managed to "take on" several dry twigs that I had adorning a plant sitting in the kitchen!!!
Now we're both in the kitchen all wrapped up in thread and I'm trying to get us loose - the thread and twigs are now caught up in his fuzzy slippers and he's frustrated cause he can't walk!! I made him stand still while I untangled his slippers, but the thread is still around his body. Now that his feet are free, he's heading back to his 'easy chair' - except to get there, he's gonna have to cope with the "tangle hub" that's at the end of the kitchen table and my sewing machine! I urged him (maybe in raised voice irritation) not to go that way, to be still till I got the 'rest of him' free from thread! Finally I did free him!
The moral of this "thread catastrophe" is that MM is pouting cause I yelled at him and 'he didn't do anything wrong' - his words! I'm trying to "un-thread" everything else that had gotten caught up in an entire bobbin full of thread and get it in the garbage. Had to cut here and there to rescue my sewing chair and the 'dry twigs' - some 20 minutes later I've finally de-threaded the Mr., my sewing chair, the plant with the twigs and myself - and I'm apologizing to MM cause he's right, it wasn't his fault - and neither of us have yet recognized the 'humor' in the thread catastrophe!!!
I just hope MM hasn't changed his mind about my sewing in the kitchen!! Every 'thread' of this is the truth!!!! "B" :icon_crazy::icon_bump:
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
Didn't I see this on an episode of I Love Lucy?
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
This is just too funny. Hope hubby will see the humor eventually lol
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
OMG - you had me in stitches this morning after my boo boo with no thread in the bobbin!

Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
So, your hubby is also all wound up in your new hobby? If you decide to name your quilts, this one should have an interesting name - "All Wound Up"; "Tangled Threads". And you will have quite the story to tell as well.
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
What a wild and crazy "thread" this is! Hope you are all untangled by now! LOL!

Now showing in theaters near all quilters: Tangled, the Web we Weave.
Just happened to be in the area filming.
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
Leave it to Sandy to find a real picture of our mental pictures.....:) Great smile maker by the way as I can relate.
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
That reminds me of a recurring nightmare I used to have when I was a teenager. Weird. Your story was hilarious!
Along this "thread thread", I managed to break a bobbin that I had just filled the other day. One of the sides just popped off, just as it stopped filling on the machine. No way to save that thread. :(
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
I was actually thinking as I read that this could be fun ;)
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
Too funny!
I also got a kick out of MM - that is Pat's nickname for her hubby and it stands for Monkey Man.
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
I'm glad everyone enjoyed our "tangled bobbin thread" story. We did finally see the humor in it after all was said and done. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't run outta 'black' thread - our web was 'black thread'!!
The funniest part for me was the way MM (MM for me is "My Mr.") kinda reeled in my fancy dry twigs, like he was 'fishing for 'em'!! His fleece slippers kinda looked like reindeer with crooked antlers! :icon_woot: He's forgiven me for making him stand still to 'unthread' him and I did apologize cause it wasn't his fault!
Sandy's discovery of the Tangled Web filming is not too far off - we sure were in a tangled web!! Sylvia is right - seems MM is 'wound up in my new hobby' like it or not!! And Sylvia is spot on, this quilt for sure needs a name. This particular quilt is for my "Drama Queen" GD, Sarah, who is 16 and a quilt with a name and a story is right up her alley. I'll probably find a name for each one, since as a newbie at quilting doing '4 Quilts for 4 GDs' has been quite an experience and each one has a story to tell.
Today I'm starting #4, saving binding and washing 'em all for last 'n I just may pull this off - haven't slept much and every day, most all day, even to the wee hours has been devoted to this project. MM has been doing the cooking 'cause I just don't have the time!! See why I need to stay on his 'good side'??
So, when they're all done I'll post pics - I just love these quilts, hope my GDs do, too! :icon_sleep: LOL

Snip, Snip - don't you just hate to loose a whole bobbin full of thread?? I can't believe how much thread I'm using quilting 4 quilts and then to loose - not half used, not just a little, but the whole darn bobbin full!! :icon_crazy: "B"
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
Hmmm, sounds like it might be time to add a room :)

But then we would't have any 'thread fun' in the kitchen!! MM asks if I think we need a new, bigger house??? We're in an 'adult community' so no 'quilting addition' allowed!! But seriously, I have a plan - adding a sewing armoire in my bedroom and clearing and using a 2nd small walk-in closet for tools, supplies, etc. - after the Holidays!! Gotta finish 4 Quilts for 4 GDs in time for Christmas!! :icon_eek:
Re: A 'REAL THREAD' PROBLEM!!
That is too funny! I too have been caught by the "Bobbin Monster" at one time or another. Just make sure you order an extra black. I got attacked by the Red Thread though! lol
