    Default been thinking.....

I'm pretty sure I am not going to be signing up or paying for monthly classes at the shop I have been going to the past couple years. I'll miss my fellow classmates, but I've become disenchanted.

I have several kits I've purchased as well as kits I've put together myself and I think I will spend the year working on those. I also plan to start making more involved purse patterns and see how that goes.

This is a shop on the north end of town that is offering a one day class I want to take, but it's not till February. Plus it's at a shop I've not taken a class at previously.

    Time to spread my wings...........

I agree with your thinking. I have enough kits put together to last me a long time. I am no longer printing out anymore new patterns after just purchasing Leah Days Butterfly. Thats it! I love all the ones I have ready to do, along with all the tops I need to quilt. I am sure there will be plenty new around when I am ready to add.

2015 is the retreat with Jenny and 2016 the cruise. Lots of saving to do.

    Happy quilting.

What class are you going to take in February?

I met the woman who owns the template company a couple weeks ago and we really hit it off. Looking forward to taking a class with her as the instructor. I think the templates are along the lines of Marti Michelle but they are more angular and modern looking.

I know what you mean. I'm in the same boat (but not the boat Kgrammiecaz is saving for!) I have fabric galore, patterns, embroidery designs, and Pinterest inspirations that will last me a lifetime (well, not the fabric, I'll need more of that) That's not including the PHDs I've got.

A friend of mine keeps inviting me to a monthly group that gets together. I'd dearly love to go, as it's in my tiny home town, but I don't want to start on something else. Plus I'm not sure if I'd even like what they are planning on making.

But I don't want to lock myself in my house and sew alone. I've got to get out of the house and be human-like. So I'm going to work on my PHDs and see if this group will let me attend but work on my own thing.

I will still go to the old shop, they have free sewing Tuesdays and Thursdays. It's a group of four women mainly who I spent today with and they are a hoot!! When they were leaving today they each stopped and asked if I would be back Thursday. I told MM and he just smiled and said, well isn't that what retired people do??

So, I will get out my class machine and work on my projects there, but I don't see myself having to buy anything for quite sometime! I may just go on Tuesdays only, but I'll see.

Looking at the times of your posts - when do you sleep??? Okay, that aside, I think you will probably be happier with the changes you want to make in your "quilting life". Retirement is about doing what you want. My mantra since I retired is if you don't sign my paycheck or in today's world make a direct deposit into my account then you don't get a say in what I do or when I do it.

Looking forward to seeing more works of art from you, lady!!!!

Well.....when I first retired, I went to bed the same time I always did while working. Got tired of waking up at 0530 every morning! Now I stay up till 0030 - 0200 or so....sometimes I still wake up early, maybe 0600 or 0700, but I like to sleep till MM gets home from working graveyard at 0900. I hurt so bad last night from doing Professional Totes since Saturday that I took a sleeping aid last night at 0030 and I slept till 1030 today!

I have to pick up the two youngest grandkids from school today at 1535 so I need to get going and get things done while they are not here. Then I get to keep them quiet while Boppa is sleeping!

Looks like a fun pattern. A bit of work, but it is really pretty.

Pat, I really like those spikey angles, holler back and give us a review on the templates. Don't blame you, our group used to meet almost every week, it got pretty stale, then we decided to meet just once a month, and do a potluck dinner before we started sewing. It's made it more fun, more stuff gets done, and we always look forward to the next one. Our toughest chore is figuring out what the next menu will be. Gerri's got it right too, retirement, your choice, your time frame!
