It is about 4 hours from the airport. You can take Interstate 70 to Columbia, MO then you will go North. It is mostly 4 lane so the drive is easy, just boring!
The other airport to the west is only about an hour, right?
Airport in Kansas City is called KCI and it is a little more than an hour.
I think Jean did that drive in about 3 1/2 hours I think. She will probably come on and let you know.
I have driven from KC to Madison and I think it was about 8 or 9 hrs I made it in a day. But would be lot closer to St Louis.
Hope this helps.
Jean Anne
It's 220 miles from my house and I live 3 miles from the St. Louis airport.
Oh pooh! That's too far for this trip. I guess I'll have to keep my options open for other things to do, places to visit while I'm there and he's in meetings all day.
There are a number of nice quilt shops in St. Louis, Jackman's, The a Quilted Fox, In Stitches, Merrily We Quilt Along. These are ones I know about. There are others in Illinois, and several in St. Charles County. Let me know if you want more information.
The Zoo,History, art and Science Museums are all free, there are tours of Anhueser Busch Brewery that are free ( with samples!) and of course the Arch. Or you could hang out with me and we could quilt together!
I like the idea of a QUILT DAY WITH JEAN. Now that would be priceless.
Going to Jean's is kind of like hitting the M* annex anyway ...
Let me know if the two of you get together to play and I will make a trip over.
Oh how fun! A mini M* retreat! Wished I lived close enough!
My dau went to grad schools (SLU and Wash U) there and her husband is a native, so I visited several times and enjoyed it. I'd would definitely recommend the tour of the brewery even though I don't like beer. The ride in the Arch and the associated Museum of Exploration (is that right name?) were also great. If you like to walk or run, the main city park is fabulous. Grant Park?
I always found the folks at Jackman's helpful and they had a wide selection. I always liked the samples and fabric selection at the Quilted Fox, but they never seemed interested in helping us. Maybe Jeanne could join you for a couple quilt shop visits.
Oh that would be so fun to have a mini get together....keep me informed.
Sounds like fun.....Maybe I could drive east to join you all.
Oh very cool! I would love to sew with you all! Will keep you updated when it gets closer.
Sounds like fun!!!
