microwave bowl holders
I need to know if anyone has made these microwave bowl holders using 100% cotton batting. Some say that you need to use special batting to go in the microwave and others say to use 100% cotton batting would work. Just wondering if it makes a difference or not.

Yes it must be 100% cotton for fabric, thread and batting or it will catch on fire in oven. Warm and natural PLUSH batting doesn't have the poly scrim. Some use the quilters dream batting. Lots of different post on this board and all good advice. It doesn't have to be the special warm tater batting.

Thank you for the information. I am planning on doing a few for friends and now I can work on them.

Re: microwave bowl holders
Just wanted to share this... My MIL made one for me and not sure what she used as batting or if she sewed it with polyester blend thread. I used it last weekend in the microwave (1100 watts and is over the stove) and thank God I was still tending to stuff cooking. My bowl started popping and cracking and almost looked like it was "glowing" and I shut off the microwave immediately.
I don't know if my MIL tested these before she gave them as gifts but I would! I feel fortunate I did not walk away from the microwave!
