Default Help! A Wonder Clip got melted to the bottom of my new iron

This just happened. My iron is still hot. I peeled off what I could but there's still a chunk of plastic there. Do you think it will peel off once the iron cools down? Has this happened to you? What should I do?It's my brand new blue oliso. Had it less than a week. Guess I should check the ironing board first next time.

Wait until it is totally cooled off, and then see if the wonder clip separates from the iron. If it does not, turn the iron on at the lowest heat, and work with the clip until it softens and you can peel it off. You may have to raise the heat (slowly) some more, but the secret is to stay right with the iron and work that plastic until it peels off.

It sounds like Sylvia has the solution, I would try that, too. I've been wishing something like that would happen to a fairly new iron (can't even remember the brand) I have so then I could justify buying the Oliso!! Maybe it'll get dropped?!?!?! Shame on me! JJ, hope you're able to get the Wonder Clip off your iron - those Wonder Clips are a hazard and too expensive! Boycott Wonder Clips - just kidding! "B"

I solved my own problem!! Once the iron cooled the plastic was hard as a rock and did NOT peel off. I heated it up again--to high, waited a few mins till the plastic got gooey. Then i rubbed gently but firmly with a dry microfiber cloth and most of it came off, just leaving a little schmear. I let it cool completely, then cleaned the sticky residue with a bit of rubbing alcohol and dry microfiber cloth. Now it's just like new again. I do love the Wonder Clips but will take note in the future not to leave them anywhere near the iron. But thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Glad you solved your problem. Sounds like the kind of thing I would do.
