What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
I never do Black Friday ...out of the house that is! Good grief... nothing I want bad enough to have to go through all that! But I did sit down at the PC this morning checking fabric stores I regularly check out....and Fabric.com had cottons for $1.99 a yard!!! I thought, wow.. how perfect! I have been commissioned to make 25 (coloring book size) tote bags for the kids next summer at vacation bible school at my church. I was just going to go through my stash, and I have some really good prints for kids, but...I couldnt' pass this up! I got a yard of 5 or 6 cute boy/girl prints and I can get 4 totes from a yard... I think. I made them last summer and I think I used one fat quarter for the front and back and then poly/cotton for the inside lining. Can't get any cheaper than that and the kids will love them. THey have slots for crayons on the front. So I was thrilled..and with $35 or more...free shipping! They ahd alot more, but I did have a budget to stay with.
And I admit, there were some for me too... I am planning on making a cat quilt for my sister... quilt with cats on it...and they had for $1.99 really cute fabric of a stick figure kind of lady walking a cat...cartoonish look. And I got 3 yards of that for the back of her quilt and another print for the back of my zigzag quilt I just finished the top of and for the back of the pansy quilt I am working on now. $1.99 a yard...can't beat that! I spent $35.08...just enough for free shipping! Now.. to wait for monday hoping Connecting Threads will have their thread on sale for Cyber Monday!
So... any good "stay at home black friday" sales did you snatch up?
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
I got some oven liners and two quilt books at Amazon, along with a few other things in my wishlist. Free shipping & 30% additional off my books was great deal.
Then went to MSQ this morning. Bought some layer cakes, charms, yardage and a calendar. I love to shop at home in my slippers!
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
I did the fabric.com shopping last night--got some great stuff at $1.99!
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
While I stayed home too, I went online shopping….. And I was bad.
Very very bad…..
I went to Fabric.com and quite a few different $1.99 cottons. Just enough to barely get over the $35 for free shipping. I also hit Hancocks Fabrics online and bought some flannels, and 1.49 (I think) cottons. Picked up a few things from Joann’s including a small pack of wonder clips, some fleeces, and some super sale flannels Plus 90” muslin for ridiculously cheap.
Um, lets see… Got most of the super duper extra special flash sale items from FQS. I think all were between 70 to 90% off! Good variety of items too…not just one line of fabric like normal. Couple things from Craftsy like half off layer cakes, um… I can’t remember it all right now because I was also put in charge of getting some big ticket items for family members who don’t have internet at the moment. So lots of back and fourth across many sites.
Plus I stocked up on items I usually pick up for super cheap this time of year that can’t wait for spring clearances.
Yep…I was bad!!
But, I didn’t have a stash before today and now I do, or will as soon as it arrives. :D
There have been projects I want to do and make but didn’t have materials to work with, so I’ve been waiting until these sales to get them.

I forgot to check Amazon. Guess it's to late now! Love that free shipping, don't you?!

Ah, you must be the one that bought out about 5 prints I wanted!!!LOL!!! It was funny as I didn't know how the site worked at first...and I'd get excited and click on I liked and it'd say "not available". I thought..What? It's only 9:30! But then I realized...if the fabric said 0 for "yards available" that meant...it had none so don't click on it! Oh well...At least we got to stash our stash at a great price!

sonic... WOW! That is great! I forgot about Hancock... I think I'll click over there now and see if they have anything left. I was surprised that many of the stores only had 25% off. Maybe they are waiting till Cyber Monday! But like you said...at least you have stocked up and have a purpose for what you bought..and better than having to pay $9 a yard!
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
I took advantage of a couple of my 'gift cards' I bought @ M* recently, got 4 'Charm Packs, a Patty Cake, a Turnover (when it sounds like food, I'm hooked), a few wonder clips (gotta try 'em), some pins and the Gypsie Gripper & a couple freebies!!
Then I moseyed on over in my 'slippers' to JoAnns 'n loaded my cart with some bargains including a good pair of pinking shears (50% off!!!) to reach $50 for free shipping - BUT found you can't use 2 coupons (who knew that, I'm new at this!), so I called to complain - my eyesight isn't good enough to read all that fine print - nice girl told me no dice on 2 coupons 'n I didn't want to 'lean on her the day after Thanksgiving' so I asked for Spvsr. She said I'd get a c/b later.
Then I took a little spin on over to Amazon with my Cart list from JoAnns and got several items as low as or cheaper than JA's w/ free 2-day shipping.
Left my JA's order just sitting waiting to see what happens. Later did get a c/b from Spvsr @ JA's (very nice young lady) who apologized for misleading email ad and waived shipping on what was left of my order (under $50 now). I thanked her profusely knowing she really didn't have to do that, especially after I gave Amazon part of her order!! :icon_crazy:
So, I'm just exhausted from shopping all day 'n I'll have to hide the credit card bill when it comes from my DH - just don't know how to hide the pkgs, he always checks for pkgs and gets the mail!?!?!? :icon_shake: I may be in trouble!! :icon_razz: "B"
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
I shopped on Amazon this morning, toys mostly. Then my son texted me with an idea of what I could make his two daughters for Christmas "If you are thinking of making them a quilt or something." He suggested a "Minecraft" theme quilt. I went on line and found a good tutorial on exactly what I was looking for. They are not attractive at all, to me, but those little girls just love that Minecraft game and all the videos, so I bet they will love it on a quilt. It is different shades of green. Yuk. So, I ran to Hancock's this afternoon and got fabric there to make them with. And of course, I had to get in on that 1.99 flannel!
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
At midnight last night I picked up some things from MO*. A couple of layer cakes that I have been wanting, the circle magic template and book, and the MO* mug. I used my gift cards that I got last week. Other than that I've stayed away from shopping today. I'm trying to watch the budget as I know that MO* will have the 12 days of Christmas starting next week.
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
I'll show you layer, dug into my stash and found some Grinch fabric. It's way cute but is so tricky to put it together because each piece needed to be fussy cut and they are different sizes. It was beyond my skill level when I bought it 3 years ago, but I've learned a few tricks since then, and I got it going.. I think it will be good. Way scrappy, but that's OK.
It's good to shop your stash, but I did get some stuff from M* on their Black Friday sale.
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
I was good. Mostly because I was bad at J's on Wednesday.
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
DH and I went out about noon. We still got what he wanted from the Black Friday ad. I did stroll thru Joanns but left empty-handed.
i had gone in on Wed for their pre sale and picked up a couple things I wanted.

bscuzz...sounds like you had a great day! I totally forgot about Amazon and Joann's. But then again, my budget tells me what to remember..as well as my husband.... and not necessarily in that order! But I have to say..those Wonder Clips are pretty cool. I bought some at Joann's with a 50% coupon and at first thought they were more trouble than they were worth, but then with working with them...I find they are pretty handy...especially for holding down the binding. And for holding fabrics together that are "intending" to be sewn together..kind of like a quilters binder clip!
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
Cheri, haven't done it yet 'cause haven't even 'sewed' yet (still cutting and making sandwiches) but was planning to use the little 'binder clips' - I have an abundance left over fm 'working days'. Maybe they'll work, maybe not. I'll try the wonder clips, then probably get hooked . . and there ya go . . . . the retailers have our number?!?!?! I have an idea for a product that'll make me $$$$$$$. My biggest complaint when sewing is all the pcs of thread accumulating around the SM (it's my AC/DC . . oops, I mean my ADD I guess). Anyway, my idea is a wristlet with peel off masking tape strips, only with 'sticky side out' (working on that??), then all you have to do is grab them little buggers and slap 'em on your wrist 'n when it gets full, peel one off and go to the next!!! Seriously, I grab a strip of masking tape and wrap it backward and plop it on the table nx to my SM to keep them threads stuck in place!!! If anybody uses my "thread catcher" prototype I get royalties on any proceeds!?!?!? Oops, off message AGAIN. Anxious to try the Wonder Clips! "B" :icon_idea:
Re: What was you good "stay at home on Black Friday" purchase?
I took advantage of the crafty sale. Really good discounts on some Laundy Basket fabrics and some rulers I wanted.
