Unhappy Microwave bowl thingys - I want to cry!

I made one of the microwave bowl holders & it turned out really cute. So immediately thought this would be a cute present for my niece & her family (very small children). So I cut out some really cute coordinating cupcake fabric. I've done them assembly line style and have them down to the step where I sew together, turn & topstitch. After sitting there pinning 4 of these holders together, I looked at the thread I was using. Insert a howl & tears . It's 37% cotton 63 % poly!!!!!!

Now what do I do? I have all of the X's & darts done in this thread. Do I scrap the whole project? What happens when this kind of thread is put in the microwave? Right now I'd like to put them in the fireplace. HELP!!

Finish one and put it in the microwave with a bowl of water and see what happens... Then you'll know! Hope it goes well!

I googled making them with poly thread & only found disasters for results. Fires, ruined a microwave, etc. Now I really want to cry even harder!

I think microwaves should pass right through either poly or cotton. I think it is polar molecules, like H2O, that vibrate most from microwave radiation.

Creative thinking Lorie! Anyone one want to play the best use game? What else can the microwave bowl holder be used for?

Someone said to use to hold ice cream. That's pretty clever.

I would advise against having these bowl holders in the kitchen if they are stitched with poly thread. Someone could use it in the microwave - I'm thinking a kid -- thinking it was safe and cause a dangerous situation. I'm for ripping them apart and resewing with cotton thread.

Guess I'll have to scrap the entire project! I used Warm & Natural batting, now I'm reading that's a no-no too. What a waste of time & materials! So disappointed.
