Default Black Friday was yesterday for me....and today....

well, kind of! I don't venture out of the house on the REAL Black Friday...but yesterday I went to Walmart for something else and decided to just browse the fabrics. I don't need anything, but...you know that pull that you get when you just know fabric is near by!

They had a large end table thing full of bolts that they had marked down $2-$5 a yard. I know all the issues with Walmart fabric, I seldom buy any there, simply cause coupons at Joann's are a better deal. And I know to look closely at it as some is thinner than Joann's. But this was actually marked as "quilting" fabric and I recognized the name brand, (but can't think of it now) but it all felt thick and was not see-thru and did the wrinkle test fine to verify 100% cotton and it was $2-$2.50 a yard 100% cotton....sooooooo I chose these four and then 2 more that I forgot to include in the picture. A blue floral print and a solid blue to match it.

I had just got out of my funk of "nothing to make" and these three solids and the print all match perfectly and at the price.. I got 1,1/4 yard each. I know I can get at least 2 small quilts from them and possibly a third with a little help from my own stash. I was asked to make a few for some elderly ladies at church.

I am looking forward to creating a quilt with them. Sounds kind of stupid, but you know how it goes! I am trying to branch out and learn some new patterns and techniques (currently working with a D9P). So I was happy that for $22 I got enough nice fabric to make 4 quilts. Guess I'll be busy for a while! The lady also comissioned me to make small tote bags for the kids for next summers DVBS of about 30 kids...so I have to make 30 of them. I just make them big enough for a coloring book with slots on the front of the tote for crayons. I gave them 4 a few months ago, and they liked them. I had to laugh, she sent me $20 asking for 25 totes! I am not going to charge them anything, but I know this lady and she will be upset if I refuse her money so I'll chalk it up to shipping charges! I made her and several other ladies lap quilts for prayer meetings they have in the mornings as the church is so cold.

So that is my Black Friday...two days early.... oh, but this morning I had a Black Friday early.....The Coffee Bean coffee place (mortar and online store) I buy their teas when a free shipping promo comes around and I treat myself to one canister ($9) when they offer free shipping. THis morning I get an email saying 33% off orders placed BEFORE 11am today and free shipping! So, I ordered 3 cans of flavored teas...2 I have already had and love and a new one..cinnamon flavor. So I got the canisters for $6 and free shipping instead of $9 and $6 shipping....or $9 and free shipping! I never pay for shipping... just wait for the sale! And now I have enough tea to last me all winter.(hot tea/bags)

I am all alone today and sorry if I chatter alot...just wanted to chat and share my "black friday" bargains!

Cheri, sounds like you had a great day out! Nice color scheme there, and I do the same at WalMart, but check closely, sometimes you get lucky! And it sometimes takes just a certain fabric to get us re-motivated, also excellent on the tea and bags! So sorry you're alone today, but glad you shared your "early" Black Friday!
Don't worry if plan A fails, there are 25 more letters in the alphabet!!

Thanks Carrie! I think these prints were part of their usual "quilt pattern" thing they offer. They have a free pattern and then display that with the actual fabrics used in the pattern and have it set aside from all the other fabrics. So the fabrics are all in the same "line" or manufacture. I pre washed them all yesterday and other than that usual salvage edge mis-jungle thing (shrinks and the salvages edges don't match) it did fine. And I get that salvage issue on many other brands of fabric so nothing new there. Now.. for the pattern...

Pretty fabrics. What flavors of tea do you like from Coffee Bean? I've never tried anything from there. By the way, warm wishes would work for your fabrics maybe, one focus and three coordinates. You could always add a small amount of white or off white too if it felt like it needs it.

oldsewer...I just kind of took a stab at the place last year cause I wanted something that really did have good flavor instead of this stuff in the stores that give you one cup per bag! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ceylon Vanilla (hope I spelled that right) WOW...perfect vanilla flavor and at least 2 cups per bag and the can is 20 bags for $8.75. I also love the Cherry Blossom, Apricot, Peach and this time I tried something new with the ...well, forget the name but it is a cinnamon flavor. Strawberry something, is okay but you get one good cup of flavor, but a second one is weak. I watch for the free shipping sales that are every other month or so and get one can and stock up for the winter! This time was a Thanksgiving special with 33% off each can and free shipping.. I got 3 cans for $17. I am set for the winter (had some left from last spring!) and at $6 a can...its about that in the stores and not as flavorful! And I have even used two bags....the second cup with a vanilla with the first cup of strawberry...and that is good too. I want a cherry flavor, but they don't have one! The "support the troops" one sounds great but they were out and the peppermint..gonna get that next time. That too... mix with another flavor as the peppermint is pretty strong...probably 3 cups strong for me! Just go to the site and join and they send you emails of their sales and promotions. They also have flavored coffees, but I can't drink coffee so I dont' look there! but I hear they are good too. It's called The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. 10% off first order, so watch for sales and free shipping and get 10% off that! There isn't a store near me so I have to buy online, but maybe there is a store in your town. But I dont' think you get the specials in-store or not.
