Default Update on Magnetic Pin Holders Close to the DSM

I e-m'd my Viking dealer. He also sells Pfaff & Baby Lock. I specifically asked about this concern that was mentioned in an earlier thread. His response is: "In the 'old days' it could have been an issue, however, it is not an issue now." I think people can rest easy about using their magnetic pin holders. JCY

"In the old days" - if you have a machine from the "old days' - it still might be an issue.
    Just a thought.

I'm not really sure what he means "in the old days" when our machines were mechanical instead of computerized. To me I would be worried more now about the magnet pin holders around our newer computerized machines then the older mechanical ones. But even some of the newer computerized embroidery machines have embroidery hoops with magnets on them. So I guess I'm just confused.........

Easier to keep magnets away from the machine then risk something happening. I agree *In the old days* machines were mechanical and no issues. Now too many electronics on machines. Not quite sure I would believe anything a viking dealer said. But thats me talking from a horrible 2 years working for one.

I keep my magnetic bowl with my pins in it at least two feet to the left of the needle end of my machine. I figure that's almost a yard away and all should be good.

I'd never, ever put one directly on my machine to hold pins.....ever.
