I have a piece of lavender that has more pink in it, and I think I might do another with my leftover Lovely charms. I pulled the blue/lavender on the first one, but I have several in pink/lavender that will go with the fabric. I do prefer a bit of color as opposed to the white background.
Yeah, audition them. I am doing that. Last night I thought I had it...but this morning looking at them...I have (on beige background) 1 purple and 1 blue in a full pansy and 1 purple and 1 blue in a closed pansy...which will work together, but then there's a black background with full purple pansys but not a black background with the closed pansy. So now I am not sure if I want to use the black background or not!

Those are my 2cents worth. Good luck!
    It's a "lovely" charm pack!!
The problem is...the pansy flower is in the middle of the charm. If I cut them in any way... I loose the flower! I was going to do HST's when I noticed that! I want the full flower, so I have to leave them as is. And the closed pansy ones...they are so far apart that if I cut them in anyway...you won't see any of the flowers, just a stem or petal here and there.

I also like colored backgrounds, especially bright light colors. If I had your fabrics, I would probably use a pistacchio green or a banana yellow, with a sparkle of that beautiful red-orange (in cornerstones for the sashing or a thin inner border).
Lourixe - this might work! I have never done a D9P but you said to put the prints in the corners so they wouldn't be cut ... and that is what I am looking for..to keep the flower charms full size, Oh, wait.... I have 4 of each charm print... and I have 5 charm prints...so that would only allow me to make 5 D9P's.... any suggestions on how I can expand the quilt with the solids?

I just placed mine in a different pattern than she did. There are so many ways to lay it out once you've cut them. Just place your charms in the four corners so they don't get cut. Here is my finished D9P

madeforyouina11 - did you use the WHOLE pack of charms? I like your pattern. But in my case...I intended to only use 5 of the charms (each has 4 matching charms) so I could only make 5 D9P's. I dont' think I can make anything with just 5 so I think I am going to have to use the other prints, and I really don't like them than much!

Alpha.. I love your dot one! I am collecting the colors to do one. The problem with these charms is..there is a full flower in the center of the charm. if I cut it in any way...I loose the flower and get nothing but stems and a petal floating around. So I have to leave the 5"

At least, cutting up charms to candies, I'd have at least 8 2 1/2 inch squares of the same value to play with.

I'll find something else for the florals, or cut into 2 1/2 rectangles and piece those. The dots didn't have any florals - just smaller dots.

This is the base for an iPad carrier. I used bits of every charm.

That red and white quilt is only 22 x 22. It was from yardage, not a pack. The pattern is from Moda's Candies.
Alpha... I know....I want more of the same prints too! I got these intending to cut them into HST's with a matching solid so I'd have 4 HST's with the same fabric on them. But once looking at them, the pansy flower is right in the middle of the charm and if I cut it in anyway...there goes the flower! An HST would have the color, but only show stems and a petal here and there. Also, the background is more prevelent when they are cut. I want the pretty pansy's..they are my favorite flower!

If it's a charm pack, I don't care where the flower is. I'll cut it anyway. By the time you get all those squares together, no one notices.
I just usually grab 4 charms and lay them on the die and run the Sizzix.

If I'm working full size, I might accommodate the pattern. Also if I'm messing with the bodice of a night gown. I'll cut to the best advantage.

BTW, those dots are a pack. MQ might have them.

Use your fabric except for some of the pansies. Make a small hexie or applique with the pansy as the highlight and stick it on the quilt in an unexpected place.

If you look at the quilted fabric for an iPad case, you can see I just cut. You don't notice it.
