Re: What the Missouri Star Quilt Company Forums Mean to You
It is where I go every morning for my quiet time before the mad rush getting ready for work and its what I look forward to at the end of the day. I have quilted for 20 years but since I have joined Missouri Star I feel I have stepped up to a new quilting level. Thank you!

This is a quilt guild for me. I'm not so great at interacting with people in groups, and I like the fact that here I can choose whether to interact or just to read on my own.

Re: What the Missouri Star Quilt Company Forums Mean to You
I joined about the same time April did January 2013. I had found a beginners quilting class, and was referred here for the Daily Deal. I fell into Jenny's tutorials by accident, and had a marathon weekend watching and giggling over every one I could find. She made me feel like, "Hey, I really think I could do that!" I suddenly had the courage and inspiration to try. I think I spend more than 100.00 here every single month that year. Finally, I found the forum. As much as I have loved every other part of M*QC, the forum has been blessing my life in so many ways, that it has become my most favorite feature. I find I truly love and care about my forum friends, I pray, and laugh, and cry and commiserate with all of you, and find I am deeply concerned when you are troubled, and rejoice with you for life's blessed moments. And on top of all of that, you all inspire me, teach me, and give me courage to try new things. I love you all, truly, and feel blessed to be a part of this wonderful forum family.

I come here and feel a bond with many people I have never met, yet would help in any way, prayers, advice, etc. I have laughed, cried, prayed and learned many things quilting and been inspired.

I am among the many who have found Jenny's tutes and the forum to be my therapy after near tragedy, others have had great loss. I have spent six months reading entries nearly every day and always watching the tutes. Just recently I have joined in responding to others and it's great to get into the conversations. I am not a shy person, but recently I have not had the energy to engage fully. Now I am so glad to have a place where I can go where I feel I know folks. This forum would be sorely missed if it were to disappear! Let's make sure that doesn't happen!

Like many, this forum means the world to me and it would leave a very big hole in my heart if it was lost. I came for quilting, I came to learn and I came to open my mind to possibilities. But what I received was so much more......it was community, companionship, laughter, some tears, hope, new life born and sometimes loss. Through a screen and a keyboard this lovely group of people opened an amazing world to me that is truly cherished.

What? Live without Missouri Star Quilt Company? I don't think I could live without all of you.
I can not even remember what I was looking for when I joined here. But I come here for the friendships I have made, for the help that is so freely given, and the support that is given and the inspirations.
No, I could not live without the MSQC forum.

Re: What the Missouri Star Quilt Company Forums Mean to You
I have only been a member for a few months and already feel "like family". I have already made some very dear friends on this forum. Some I have met and others I haven't but that doesn't matter. You can get a pretty good idea of people's character in the way they write and this group is unbelievable. There are so many wonderful caring people that goes way beyond the activity of quilting. M* is what brought us together initially because of our common interest in quilting but then the supportive environment of the forum goes way beyond quilting.
It is funny because I did my masters education via an online university and the same type of dynamic developed. Of course our groups were much smaller but it became a family group and we protected each other and helped each other. Of course there are always some members of your family who frustrate you from time to time and this online environment is no different.
There is also an element of trust involved in revealing some personal information as we hear about so many on line scams and so you always have your antennae alert. I ventured off thousands of miles away from home alone to meet up with a group of people I did not know for the fall Retreat and was not really very worried about this not turning out perfectly ok. It was such a wonderful event and the people were even better than you could imagine. It was like we all knew each other and by the end of 5 days we really felt like family.
Quilters are givers and for many this is a safe place to share things or vent stuff that you cannot say to other people. With so many members, there is always someone on line or someone who can share similar experiences or provide advice.
I cannot even begin to explain how much the association with the M* and the forum has meant to me over the last few months.

I live in the middle of nowhere and few of my friends quilt. I appreciate M* for providing everything from tutorials to materials. My internet connection is marginal, so I subscribe to The Block so I can have a written version of all the directions for featured tutorials. I have met a lot of nice people, but more than anything I can quickly get a question answered or input given on a quilting quandary. I get lots of ideas fron the pics of quilts posted. I have pretty much taught myself to quilt and this forum has really help polish some very rough skills. Thanks everyone for the help and motivation!

Re: What the Missouri Star Quilt Company Forums Mean to You
I joined M* in November 2013. I have learned much more here than by attending my quilt guild meetings. If I have a question I know I can post it here and get several responses. Many times with a link to either a tutorial, blog or website. So not only is my question answered but I often get a visual to go with it.
I like looking at others quilts. Sometimes they inspire me. Other times I sit in awe at what some of our members have created. I also know who has what on sale and have gotten links to many other websites that I would have never found on my own.
But mostly I come here for the fellowship. This is like a big extended family. We laugh, cry, pray and share with each other.
I probably visit the forum 5 days a week. Could I live without M* and the Forum? Yes, but why would I want to?
