What's wrong with me? I can't believe I am saying this.....

just finished my last "needed" quilt and cleaned my sewing room... and can't think of a single thing I want to make! What's wrong with me? I have been browsing all over and my "notes" of "things to make" and nothing is saying... Make me!!! No holidays in my house so no holiday things in the pipeline and everyone in the family has a quilt and I have been told "no more quilts" (since when is one quilt enough?!?!? What universe do they live in???) I am lost! I am looking forward to Cyber Monday to order what I can find on sale...but...what do I do between then and now? I am not good at just sitting and knowing all this valuable crafting time is going to waste..drives me nuts! But I can't come up with anything! IS this what they call "being obsessed"? If so...guess I am. Where do I go for rehab???!!!

Cheri, start thinking charity - Who is close by that needs some warmth? Orphanage? Homeless? Women's Shelter? Rehab center? Retirement homes? Children in foster homes? Need stash? PICU/NICU quilts? Pillowcases?

Cheri, You are at the right place! I have also been told, ENOUGH - well, there are several places here that are in desperate need of our talents (Pillow cases, bags, children's quilts, etc). I just check under Groups and have been able to gain a lot of pleasure from making these for people that really will appreciate them. Hope you are able to spend some good time making items that will be treasured.

I was going to say charity quilts or other items that may be needed; hospitals, nursing homes etc. You could do a quilt to be raffled off for some charity as well.

You don't need immediate recipients either, do you? I keep a large box with small baby items ready to be gifted whenever I know of a pregnancy around here. Working in advance so I'm not in a hurry when I need a gift. What about sewing totes or bags, for a change? They are allways handy. You can also work in quilt-related tasks, petting/sorting fabric.

No more quilts? They really don't know what they are talking about! But, for your predicament, charity quilts and other items seem to be a good solution.

Is there a quilting technique that you have wanted to try? Something challenging to you? That is another option. This is a good time for experimentation.

What do you need? Another quilt? Placemats or a table runner? Covers for your kitchen appliances? An art quilt?

Are there extended family members or friends who have not received a quilt from you? I am sure there are others who would love a handmade quilt.

Please let us know what you decide to do.

And, perhaps, a true mystery quilt - something you make with no one in mind as the recipient.

I know what you can make. Make a big giant MESS! And then take the rest of the time to clean and reorganize your sewing space. I bet right after you make the mess you'll think of some thing that you can make thats better than a mess. Enjoy your time and relax. Watch some videos and pick up on a new technique?

My first thought also was charity quilts. I bet the local crisis pregnancy center would love to receive some baby quilts or flannel blankets. Linus Project, etc. The possibilities are endless. I keep some made ahead for the new moms at my church, but I have plans to donate some. Don't give up quilting just because your family doesn't want any more quilts. What about a local guild or quilting group that has an annual sale for local charities? Maybe you could sell some? Let the creative juices flow & keep on keeping on! JCY

This is why I make quilts for PICU group. It gives my creative edge something to do and serves a great need also.
