I did that a few months ago myself! That rotary cutter hopped up over the edge and bam...right into my finger all the way into my fingernail! Talk about blood....I don't know what was worse, that or the pain. Took us ten minutes to get the bleeding to stop and I wanted to go to the doctor for stitches and he kept saying a bandage would be fine. About five days later he was telling someone about it and admitted we should have gone for stitches...oh well! It was numb for about two months, but that is gone now and I can see the scar, but it's barely visible at all.

I was going to purchase a Klutz glove, but I spoke to a couple different women at quilt shops and they all told me that those gloves won't prevent you from getting cut again, just slow it down. I came across O'Lipfa Safety Shields that you permanently attach to your rulers and I am no longer in fear of ever cutting myself again!! Wish I had known about them a long time ago.
