I visited a new to me LQS today :)

Today I had one of the worst days I've had in awhile. I decided to visit a new to me quilt shop not far from my usual place. I am so thrilled I went in!!! What a lovely store!! And lovely staff! (not that the staff at my regular shop aren't lovely :)). This store only sells fabrics, patterns and notions, they are not a machine dealer.

They have a MASSIVE selection of Northcott solids, and shelves and shelves of fresh modern fabric lines. They had some really nice kits and lots of interesting patterns. Their notions seemed well priced, Best Press was $1/bottle cheaper than my regular store. They have wonderful, fresh modern quilt samples all over and a long arm quilt machine in the back of the store that a friendly woman was busy at work on. She is the LA owner, and she works in the shop at her machine (it's where her machine lives, lol). She was working on a beautiful double wedding ring quilt.

This store is also the location where our local modern quilt guild meets.

One of the lovely staff took 10-15 minutes to chat with me about my quilting experience :). She welcomed me to the "cult" and assured me I wouldn't worry about building a massive stash for long, lol.

One thing this store had NONE of was pre-cuts.

Anyway....just wanted to share my fun :). Now I better get busy and get a couple more quilts on the go so I can give myself permission to buy more!!!

It sounds like you had a great time.I don't have any little quilt shops near me ,the closest is a Joann's.
my local Joann's is always picked over.

Sounds like a wonderful new relationship has begun.

Well that doesn't sound like a bad day? sounds like you have a new place to hang out and meet new friends!

Sounds fun! My shops only carry Bali Pops. I'm over those. lol

I am the president of a volunteer board and had to deal with mediating a nasty conflict :(

I 'think' it's resolved now...I hope it's resolved now.

I have no little quilt shops near me. I do have Joann's, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, AC Moore and Walmart with fabric and sewing suppies, oh and big lots.

I guess I lied. I did spy some Bali pops!

I love Bali Pops. I just don't like the three dudes I made from one. It wasn't cute and colorful. It just looked like mush.

I will be using Bali pops for quilts for my nephews for Christmas. I got kits in the summer. I will find the link for the pattern and post here.

I don't know what I would do without my LQS (10 minutes from home), I not only go to them for fabric but also for advice. The owner and staff are so helpful and friendly. They are limited in what they carry in precuts but I can always find those on M*. I also have about 8 other shops that are 1/2 hour to 2 hours away that are fabulous as well.

I'm doing them in bright batiks for two active young boys! I will of course post photos when I get to them!
