Default Batting v.s Flannel for Design Wall

Should I use Warm & White Batting, which is stickier, I was told that, or Flannel,. for the Design Wall. I thought of gridded flannel,.
I asked a question before on how thick the foam core board should be,.

You might look at drapery interlining to see if it has enough nap for you. It comes in 54" width, to me that is a help. That is what I have and it works pretty well for individual blocks, when you get a bunch sewn together it doesn't hold as well and I have to add pins. My base is ceiling tiles glued to the concrete basement wall and can be pinned into.

I have a huge piece of felt (I think it is 2.5 yds) that my SIL gave me. I tape it to the wall with painters tape when needed and take it don't when not using it.

I have white flannel also. I'm too cheap to use batting on the design wall!!!

I used a sheet of insulation board (4' x 8'..the kind that has silver metallic paper on the outside)....think it was 1 1/2" thick and covered it with flannel (used duct tape to secure it too the back). It was tall enough to wedge against the ceiling in our group's quilt room, so didn't have to secure it to the wall....actually we have 4 of these boards against one wall and we love em.
