Default Quilting In The Ditch... Boy Do I Feel Stupid

I was reading the quilting book The Quilters Companion" that Cyndiofthevortex sent me. I was reading the section Loving Stitches and learned that the term "Quilting In The Ditch" DOESN'T MEAN IN THE DITCH, it means to follow the patchwork seam so that it's almost invisible. Boy do I feel stupid

Terry, LOL, don't feel like the Lone Stranger, since coming to machine quilting, I've had to research a term or two myself! FMQ was my duh moment! I was tempted to text that to my kids, simply to get a response/rise out of them, tee hee!
Don't worry if plan A fails, there are 25 more letters in the alphabet!!

You mean the extension cord was running from your house to the ditch where you were stitching with your machine? Say it isn't so!

I laugh at all the initials and phrases we use in quilting! As a nurse we have a ton and my brain doesn't always go to the right profession( nursing vs quilting) when I see them!!
    I can get so confused!

So, stitch in the ditch can have an entirely different meaning?!

Don't feel bad. I did not know exactly the meaning for years either. The way we piece quilts the only way you could really stitch in the ditch is if you press all your seams open. I much prefer the serpentine stitch (wavy stitch) so all I have to do is aim it down the seam then it doesn't matter if it strays once in a while.

So Terry, how did you ever quilt? Do you even have ditches in Oklahoma?
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

No offense but....could I have a different nurse?

How exactly does this confusion manifest itself?

Do you call it a double slice when you have to open up an incision again to retrieve your seam ripper? Do you recommend to the Dr to do 1/4" seams when sewing someone up? That's a big open cut, a SITD won't work we'll have to stipple that shut.

I'm not fat I just have a disappearing hourglass.
I just had a d9p, code for face lift.

Since you're always on my mind can you straighten out the mess up there?

Don't feel stupid! I had many of the same questions with the acronyms for quilting terms.
