I am a teacher and received a quilt after coming back to school from a maternity leave. A parent brought in white squares with fabric paint and pen. Each kid made a handprint in their square and signed it. She took the blocks home and turned it into a beautiful quilt! It was a special gift and surprise! I would think this idea would work well for an auctioned quilt as well.

I love the handprint quilt idea! I just ran it past his teacher. (A male!). He likes the idea too.
What kind of paint would work well, not wash out, and wouldn't harm my LA?
Also, is there a certain type of fabric anyone would reccomend for painted quilt blocks?

    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

I made a quilt for my student teaching mentor, had the kids draw a picture and color it with fabric crayons, then I ironed their drawings on white muslin blocks. You just have to be careful with letters, they will be reversed.

Here is a picture of the quilt a parent made with my class in case you were interested. The sashing, backing, and binding are flannel.
