    Default .......here's my sign......

I was never able to get an exact 1/4" on my sewing machine unless I moved the needle to the left. The problem with that was if I forgot to move the needle when I turned my machine on then my seams would be different sizes.

I realized, just a couple of weeks ago, when I turn my machine on it is actually set at a scant 1/4".....so now I just leave it alone. I tend to agree with Jenny.....just be consistent.

No wonder I couldn't match the seams and had to spend so much time with my best friend (or my worst nightmare)...here's a picture of it:

Is that a seam ripper? I have heard of them but have never used one.

I changed my default setting to a scant 1/4". When I need an exact 1/4, I have to move my needle to the left too.

No sewer/quilter can live w/o a seam ripper! You can get one at W-M or any LQS. They're your best friend. JCY

I actually move my needle to the right - it is a quilting setting on my Viking that makes it possible to use the regular (most oft used) foot to get the 1/4" seam... that being said, I still play with that setting, and also sometimes use my 1/4" foot with the guide. Still workin' on obtaining consistent seams (sigh........................)

Yup, Papa, we already know about your propensity to blame that little sewing machine gremlin for everything.
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

I must admit that I have several and I sharpen mine from time to time. I bought one of those with the rubber tips that helps remove the little pieces of thread that remain. It works quite well but I wish it didn't roll away so easily.

Yes indeedy! I buy then in quantity, and have them all over - they like to hide from me. Anybody ever heard of that new battery powered one? Looks like a teeny tiny hair clipper, and it runs so fast!! Think I just may have to check into one of those, to cut down on my "unsewing" time...!!
