I have never owned a Janome, but I have 3 Babylocks that I absolutely love and haven't ever had any issues with at all. It's all a matter of personal preference I think. There is t a Janome dealer close to me, but my Babylock dealer is the absolute best!!
Quilting is a gift I give myself.

I taught the first New Home (now Janome) computer machine club in Texas. I have owned several top of the line Janomes and have sold Janomes. When I decided to buy a new machine, I went in to buy a top of the line Janome. I walked out with a top of the line Babylock. There was no comparison as for as I was concerned with the two machines. The Babylock was far more user friendly, had better stitch quality and features that I loved. Plus it was less expensive than the Janome and came with more feet and accessories.

janbee - I still have my New Home and it is a workhorse and still stitches as "smooth as butter" - which is why my DD calls and asks if she can use Mr. Butta' sometimes. I have a Janome 6600 now and love it. But then, I have never used a Babylock - so I can't do any comparison. Just very happy with my New Home and Janome - oh, and my 1953 Singer Featherweight.
