Ethical question- or not.
So I ordered 2 yds of Bella Snow. I often use this color. When I got my order it didn't look white at all- it looks cream. I realize that snow isn't "white- white", but this is most definitely cream. I am in the middle of trying to find some other samples of snow to see if I am just losing my mind. But right now I can't. I called and they said that if it's labeled snow- it's snow, and maybe it's just a change of dye lots. I really don't think it's snow- but I can't prove it.
So now I am stuck with yardage that I really don't like. I guess this is one of the drawbacks of ordering on-line. So if they didn't make a mistake- and the snow I have is the real thing- I don't really have a right to return it. It's what I ordered. I don't feel right returning something, especially yardage, when they didn't make a mistake- or I can't prove it otherwise.
I realize this is a small thing, but I work on a very tight budget, so I am frustrated at myself and the situation.
Thanks for listening.

Re: Ethical question- or not.
Try posting it on the I Don't Want It Group........and try swapping it for something you do want. Color matching can be difficult online.

Re: Ethical question- or not.
Bella snow is very creamy with a yellowish tint to it.
Kona snow is creamy but not nearly as yellowish as Bella.
To me, it sounds like you got what you ordered. Someplace on here Jean has pictures of them side by side.

Re: Ethical question- or not.
OK, I am officially losing my mind. I found yardage that I know for sure is snow, and compared them. They are the same.
Can I blame 4 kids under 7 driving me nuts while 7 months pregnant with #5? AND A SEWING MACHINE IN THE SHOP FOR 2 WEEKS!!!!! My brains cells are just drying up- I can hear it.
Sorry everyone, just ignore me.
(BTW- hopefully I get my machine tomorrow)

You are right, there is a difference between Bella and Kona, and I usually got Kona in the past.

Re: Ethical question- or not.
You are 7 months pregnant and dealing with 4 kids under 7. I am in awe of you!!!
I am sending you hugs and best wishes :icon_hug:

Re: Ethical question- or not.
Yes, you can blame all of that! Wow--I'm tired just thinking about it. :)

Re: Ethical question- or not.
Lordy, I became exhausted just reading that!!!!! And YES, you definitely can blame all of that for mental confusion, WOW! Hugs, back/foot rubs, soaks and long periods of quiet to you!!!!!!

Re: Ethical question- or not.
The kids aren't that bad. I am just driving myself nuts with no outlet- sewing. Hopefully tomorrow I will get my machine back and be back in business. I am a mess when I have no projects, ever since I was a kid.

Re: Ethical question- or not.
I'd like to know how you find the time to sew! Sounds like a busy household to me.

Wow!! is all I can say. $ kids under 7 and #5 on the way in 2 months. You are by far a better woman then I am. I did 2 kids in 4 years and then had hubby fixed. It was enough!

Re: Ethical question- or not.
Thanks everybody. I sew at night. When my husband has off, he also gives me a break and lets me sew.
Just so there is no confusion- I won't be winning the cleanest house award anytime soon!
-
Re: Ethical question- or not.
bless you! ok, for the record, I don't have all those kids, and I STILL don't have the cleanest house!. lol.

Re: Ethical question- or not.
I think your original question just proves how hectic we can all be from time to time! And if you add to that all the responsibilities of home and family you have to feel like you're in a salad spinner!!!
But it also points out how you can come here and ask a question and end up with a whole bunch of hugs from the members here!
That speaks to the heart of the forum, in addition to the expertise it provides!
And besides, you can claim pregnancy brain and we would all understand!!! Hugs to you!!! (((((((((((((( :icon_hi: ))))))))))))))))

Re: Ethical question- or not.
I bought a folder with samples of all the Bella solids. The Bella snow is definitely the darkest and creamiest of the whites except for Figtree cream. The starkest white is White bleached 9900 98 or Bleached white 9900 97. I prefer Bella to Kona solids.

Yes it is, and I specifically used it this last two quilts for that reason. I wanted almost a yellow and Bella Snow gives me that. It's a true cream color.
You know, like cream you churned yourself.

Re: Ethical question- or not.
Hm, this must tie in with the "don't eat yellow snow" saying. lol
Holy moly - that's quite the household you got there. Good luck with #5.

That's a really good idea. Also, I never paid much attention to Kona or Bella. I would just search under "snow". I think I will get one of those sample cards so I know exactly what I am getting and not guess.
4 kids is busy, but a good busy. It's work with meaning. I am actually a survivor of ovarian cancer, and they said I could never have any children at all. So I feel very blessed to have the children I do, and wouldn't change it for the world. (Though I wouldn't mind a housekeeper from time to time)

Well bless your heart. I hope you get your machine back soon and good luck going forward.

Bless your heart!
And, what's a clean house????

Re: Ethical question- or not.
I'm sending hugs and best wishes, too.... My niece jut went through the very same situation.... Kids 8, 6, & 3 yo twins (girl/boy). #5 is now teo months old.... You girls have my undying admiration...

Re: Ethical question- or not.
Try remembering....... snow is white unless you have dogs in the neighborhood, then it can get a slightly yellow tinge. Snow fabric when put next to a true white has that yellowish hue...... just a thought.

Re: Ethical question- or not.
I understand all too well...quilting kept me sane while raising four children who were teens all at the same time! This may sound crazy but enjoy this time as you make memories. Those kids grow up so doggone fast! Here's hoping your machine is ready tomorrow!

Re: Ethical question- or not.
Karen was right on the mark, Bella is a yellow cream. When I was at MS* one of the guys in the shop said to remember it this way - Bella is yella. So now I remember to buy Kona :)

Re: Ethical question- or not.
I don't know how you have the energy to sew after the kids are in bed. By the time my two went to bed I was so exhausted I've often be asleep on the sofa at 8 p.m. I can't imagine how you do it with such a large crew! Too bad about the fabric but try not to stress over it. It's not worth it. In the end you'll find another use for that fabric. It won't go to waste. Yes, buying certain fabrics online can be a problem, especially when trying to match to other fabrics. Dye lots can be slightly different. For example, I have two pieces of fabric that are gray with white polka dots. They were ordered at different times from the same vendor, same fabric listed on the site. The dye lots were obviously slightly different. However, so different that I couldn't use them in the same project. I have found another use for the second piece so it hasn't gone to waste. Don't feel bad about yourself. We've all had this problem. It's the nature of the beast.

Sorry, but your post made me smile....it brings back many memories for me. Some very good & very sweet, some not so good, and some absolutely CRAZY!!! I had four boys within 5 yrs! Their bdays are 12/8/81, 12/8/82, 12/13/83 and 8/24/86.....our "boys" are now 32, 31, 30 and 28. I said 4 was enough and I obviously was NOT going to have a girl! LOL You will survive....it will be hard at times and pure joy at times too. Many days will be just a blur. I had many days that all I could do was make sure everyone was fed, changed, attempted laundry and that I didn't lose anyone!!! :) Congrats on the new baby whenever he/she arrives!

Re: Ethical question- or not.
You gals are sew kind. Thank you for understanding and your thoughtful words.
Got the call last night, today is the day. I get my machine back in 5 hours, AND my husband has today off- which means leftovers for dinner and Mommy is sewing into the midnight hour!!

The same thing happened to me. Needless to say, I haven't used it yet.
