    Default Please search your stash.

I am repairing a community signature quilt made in 1941 for a friend. It is a bow tie quilt. Luckily most of it is just re-sewing by hand where it is coming undone and repairing a couple tears. But there is one block where a chunk of fabric is gone.

Please search your stash for this old fabric. It looks like it might be shirting fabric. If we can match it, I only need about a 5" square. It we can only come up with a similar print then I will have to replace the whole bow tie, in which case I would need at least a 10" square (maybe a fat quarter in case I screw up).

I'm hoping some of you might have inherited/acquired an older stash and might have this.

    Thanks for looking.

Sure doesn't pry at any of my brain cells, but I have several OLD pieces and will check tomorrow (meaning I'm too tired, old and lazy to return to my sewing room right now.)
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

I am sorry that I can not help you. I do so hope someone else can. Good luck.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

Sorry, the only plaid I have is blue. I hope you find what you need.

I know these are not what you are looking for, but they are something you might be able to use. Keep them in mind and if you want them you can have them

You needed my Grandmother's closet. Maybe somebody has a very old shirt with this fabric?

I had a similar problem a while back. I put the quilt on the scanner and scanned a chunk of the missing fabric from another area. Printed it out on inkjet fabric and appliqued a replacement piece over the top of the one that had disintegrated. You could barely see the patch. This was on a keepsake quilt that isn't actually used, so there's no issue with the printed patch fading from washing. It really worked out well!

Dolor is, if I can't find what I'm looking for, that one on the right might be a good substitute. Thanks, I'll, as you say, keep it in mind.

Gosh, this looked so familiar, but after searching my stash and scraps, I am sorry to report that I couldn't put my fingers on any thing even close. I imagine in the next few weeks, I will find it in one of the old quilts around here. I know I have seen it somewhere! I have one more large tub of mixed scraps upstairs and will check it tomorrow for you. Don't hold your breath, but I will look and let you know if I find some!
