Titanium needles are the bomb!
On July 26 Sewbee posted info on the forum that Connecting Threads was having a sale on titanium needles. I hopped on over and got a supply.
I used my first one today...and I really saw a difference!! The machine seemed to sew easier and the stitches were nicer. We will see how long they last...it is supposed to be about 50 hours. I just thought I would thank Sewbee and share my experience with these needles.
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
Glad you like them! They are all I use now too :D
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
I was just about to make a needle purchase but then I wondered if they were really worth it. Thanks for letting me know.
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
I'm glad someone likes them. I had a sampler pack of five from my sewing machine dealer and all five broke the first week I tried them - yes, all 5. And I can't take credit for abusing them, because I sew all the time and seldom have broken needles. Yeah, I know - must have been a bad batch. Enough that I know I won't be spending money on any more though. As it is I probably have enough needles to last me the rest of my life.
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
Hmmm, I have heard great things about titanium needles. Right now I use Microtex for piecing and quilting. I haven't had an issue. I know they are the needles Edyta Sitar uses (my personal hero), so I will stick to them for now.
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
I wholeheartedly agree. I bought Superior topstich titanium coated needles through Connecting Threads when they had a 40% off sale. I immediately saw a small improvement in my FMQ, and more importantly I am on the fifth 72" wide quilt without changing needles. I thought it was hype these needle would last longer, but it is true.
Money well spent.
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
Nice "heads up" thread! Thanks for the information and comments!
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
I love this forum!! Always learning something new! Thanks a bunch!
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
Glad to hear the feedback on the titanium needles. I bought 1 pkg. to try & haven't tried them yet. I also have 1 pkg. of Microtex, which were recommended for sewing on batiks. I haven't made anything yet with my batiks, so haven't tried the Microtex needles either. I guess I'll have to break them out. JCY
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
I buy Singer brand for my Singer! I figure can't go wrong that way! I haven't had any problems with them. THey last a long time. I use them until I hear a poking kind of sound as it hits the fabric... and that is my warning that the needle is dull. IT still sews fine and stitches are fine, but it isn't going through the fabric neatly. But will continue to use it as even sometimes, the thicker what I am sewing makes it sound worse than just sewing 2 pieces of cotton together. But good to know about the titanium!
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
Thanks, I will have to check them out.
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
nice to know connecting threads has those needles too.
Re: Titanium needles are the bomb!
I wonder if all titanium needles are equal. Are Lightwriter and Sandy talking about the same brand?
