    Default Epiphany.......

Ok, am I the only one that thinks this way?

I have been concentrating on many of Jenny's tutorials, jelly roll, 5", snowballing, etc, etc. And I've become more comfortable with machine quilting. But in that process (thanks to the double star friendship quilt), that the small stuff is driving me bonkers !!!! So when I finish this lap quilt, I'm concentrating on larger patterns!!!! yes, perhaps it means I'm ready for larger quilts, but my DH brought to my attention that I've started mumbling to whatever project I have under the pressed foot at the time! LOL! As he says, it is a true indication that I am seeking that comfy, ahhhh position. And in typing that........a true epiphany and sigh!

I'M WITH YOU BABS, FAST AND MAYBE NOT SO FABULOUS IS MY WAY ALSO AND FOR THE SAME REASON. I ALSO LIKE BIG PATTERNS BUT BEEN KNOWN TO MAKE SHOW QUILTS WITH SMALLER BLOCKS AND AT A SLOWER SPEED.

I LET ALL MY QUILING PALS KNOW THAT THEY SHOULD NOT OFFER ME ANY SCRAPS NO MATTER WHAT. I'VE BEGUN PUTTING PIECES INTO BIG BAGGIES AND WHEN THE BAG IS FILLED i DROP IT OFF AT MY GUILD'S STASH ROOM. SOON I'LL BE GETTING TO THE LARGER SCRAPS ABOUT FQ SIZE AND MAYBE LARGER.

I love love love Jenny's tutorials, but I love them even more with a pattern printed beside me. I enjoy creating out of the blue, but I get the greatest satisfaction watching the project come together and alongside the comfort of a well planned pattern - especially when I've changed things up. I know...silly. I think for me it is less about creating the pattern and more about playing with the fabric and the colours. But, that said, I rarely do anything too small and fiddly. Go big (baby size quilt or bigger, LOL) or go home

I make BIG BLOCKS, Big Quilts... it's just as fast and easy as doing small pieces into small quilts for me.

When Jenny does a Tutorial... Swedish Leo makes one smaller... I make it bigger. LOL. If she uses Charms, I use Layer Cakes!

I just finished 30 blocks for a swap. Each block had 24 pieces in it. After sewing and ripping (many times) the 720 different pieces I am ALL for big projects right now! Hmmmm, I have a couple kids panels. That may be just the thing!

Babs, ROFL, "jack rabbit sewer" yeah, woman after my own heart!!
Debbie, cannot even begin to imagine........!!!!!
Kensington, that's what caused my true AHA moment last night, Jenny's tuts, and charm packs, thought oh I'm so headed for layer cake sizes!!!!
Terri, nothing silly there at all! I envy the fact that you can plan and execute a pattern! Not there yet, but learning to think geometrically is starting to blossom, but it'll be BIG when it totally clicks! A very nice sized lap is about as big as I want to do. If any bigger, I'd have NO time for music, and the Muse is very jealous!
MayinJ..... Lol, have already collected the itty-bitty stuff.......it's headed to the club meeting this Wednesday. The line has been drawn!

Thanks Ladies for letting me know I'm not a total whiner and nut job! LOL!

My current quilt uses 10" blocks
48 blocks - arranged 6 by 8, add a border and the quilt top is done ...
