I have a beautiful wall hanging that I would love to finish. But I can't, because the pattern was written in hell. I wish I had read it before I bought the quilt. Seriously, who writes a pattern for 1 3/8 triangles? So after an attempt, I put the thing away in a box and move on. It drives me nuts because it's money just sitting there. One day I will finish it.

I too, have made the move to bigger blocks. I am all about layer cakes and quick piecing. As much as I love the little details, it's just not practical at this point in my life. And at the end of the day, we all just want t finished project, not another UFO. I do admit to having a quilt I periodically work on that has little pieces. But I only bring it out in between projects or when I need a break from what I am working on. Also, it's only HSTs, which I love to pieces, so it's more relaxing then stressful.

Kensington, that's what caused my true AHA moment last night, Jenny's tuts, and charm packs, thought oh I'm so headed for layer cake sizes!!!!C
Terri, nothing silly there at all! I envy the fact that you can plan and execute a pattern! Not there yet, but learning to think geometrically is starting to blossom, but it'll be BIG when it totally clicks! A very nice sized lap is about as big as I want to do. If any bigger, I'd have NO time for music, and the Muse is very jealous!
MayinJ..... Lol, have already collected the itty-bitty stuff.......it's headed to the club meeting this Wednesday. The line has been drawn!

Thanks Ladies for letting me know I'm not a total whiner and nut job! LOL!
Ah but Carrie....I only execute, I let someone else plan the pattern for me! My planning goes as far as choosing fabrics, and how to lay them out (though often I just copy the lights and darks in the order the pattern writer puts them, lol).

Jenny's tutorials, which are mostly feature easy, non fiddle patterns...have changed my quilting life.... My username is always easyquilts, because those are the only kinds of quilts I will do now.... I love seeng a cute quilt coming together....without a lot of little pieces.... Precuts have changed the way I think of quilts, too..... Jenny has taught me that even those of us who are not not complete,ex blocks, can create beautiful, fun to make quilts.

I really don't do traditional blocks anymore....except for things such as pinwheels and Broken Dishes, but prefer the kinds of techniques Jenny teaches.....

I've done hand pieced quilts....that took forever.....and very much enjoyed the process.....and I still love to hand quikt when I can... But I really appreciate the "new" ways of doing things.... Thanks, Jenny!

I find it very very hard to make a small quilt! just the other day I started a big one, felt impatient to see results, so I forced myself to keep it small, made a table topper for the diningroom table. cut, pieced, quilted, bound all in the weekend. there is some great satisfaction in having it to put out, versus stashing it away to finish later.....I have SO many quilt tops, oye!
