    Default Today's DD Wedge template

What can you make with this template? I seem to remember a Christmas tree table topper, but have there been any other tutorials using it?
    Thanks!!

Just looked at the video, Lorie, and it seems to me there is lots of waste using a layer cake. Is there one using yardage where there is less waste?
    Thanks

For me they list it as a wedge but i think of it as a triangle, a large triangle. lol

I opted to buy the DD today. I looked at Creative Grids triangle rulers; they're $20. They do have lines on them, so one could cut a smaller triangle. But I can draw my own lines with a Sharpie! As long as I was ordering the DD, I ordered the Glorious Hummingbirds Layer Cake. Not sure if I'll use the wedge on that, but I've been wanting the hummingbird fabric. There are several fabrics in the charm packs & layer cakes that are not available in yardage. JCY

That particular quilt can't be made with the wedge. You have to have a 60 degree triangle for it. Not All triangles are created equal.

I thought that when I first saw the tutorial. However, I'm not sure how you would ever get that angle right if you tried puecing it any other way.

I love the wedge star quilt look. But I agree, using layer cakes seems to be very wasteful. I plan to use yardage when I cut out the wedges. It's hard to estimate how much yardage is needed. I got a yard and will probably pick up one more, I think that will do it.

The leftover scraps seems large enough do use them for a scrappy quilt, so for this pattern, I am ok with that part of the waste.

I thought she meant there was so much waste from cutting 2 wedges out from one layer cake. DYKWIM?
