Please stop
Dear Quilting Friends,
Please do not respond to this post. I am not trying to stir the pot more than it's already been stirred.
With that said...
Please stop worrying about which quilts did or didn't follow the rules of IQ. It doesn't matter. We've all been told, from the beginning, that quilts that don't meet the guidelines won't be included in the top 25.
Please think about how your comments will make others feel before you make them. I know there are many new members who joined this week and wonder what the hell they've gotten themselves into. As for the quilts that ended up in the IQ album that don't meet the guidelines of the contest, what does it matter? The individuals who took the time to make them did great jobs and probably feel denigrated every time someone else brings it up. As far as the IQ goes, ours is not to judge, but to "like".
I leave you with this thought:
Leviticus 19:18
"'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself."
With love in my heart for all of you,
Meli

Re: Please stop
Amen! I am new here and have gotten such good advice for my questions. I didn't even know what IQ was and then when I started reading so many negative comments, made me feel sad and I have wondered what is going on. I hope to keep coming here often for inspiration and help.

Re: Please stop
Mean comments or comments meant to cause trouble are not necessary ever! Now having said that, people that are involved in this contest have a right to there feelings and commenting about it. As long as it is respectful.

Re: Please stop
I am so glad someone spoke up and said what needed to be said. I took on the challenge to try and help myself learn and grow and see if I was up to the challenge and when I started seeing all the negativity. I took one look at what I embroidered in the border of my quilt and decided I wanted to be one to gladden and not sadden. Here's to hoping we can all try to love one another and encourage each other's talents!

Re: Please stop
I see it this way- and others have pointed this out as well: for every entry that didn't follow the rules that gets votes, is taking votes away from those that did follow the rules. It could make a difference in the event of a close contest. If those entries weren't included, those votes would go to the other quilts.
Not to mention, there's 425 entries and 25 are disqualifying.. The quilt that's on the last page that never gets looked at because no one wants to go through all the entries might have a better chance if those 25 entries weren't included... I don't think anyone should be rewarded for failure to follow instructions, and in my opinion, those quilts should not have been included. Period.

Re: Please stop
I tend to slightly disagree with the post above. There are a lot of participants that are voting on several quilts, so the issue of taking away votes, I don't think is really there. Now if we were allowed to only vote for one quilt, then it would be an issue, but I just don't see it. Yes, quilts that are on the top and load 1st, do have an uneven amount of votes. I saw that with my friends trying to load the page with their phones, only the 1st 15 or so would load and when they scrolled down, nothing else appeared, so they thought that was all that was there. They told me that they could not find my quilt. When I told them to go back and let the pictures load, then they could see it. If people are not patient enough to let the pictures load, then we will have what you see now... but as the weekend has come, the votes have started to level out as people are able to see the pages on their computers and not just their phones.
As for the ones that don't qualify.. think back to when you first started to quilt, were you confused? I know I was. Did it take guts to put your new quilter work out there for all to see? H E Double tooth picks it did! So get off their backs, by this time, they are well aware of the mistake and don't need it rubbed into their faces!! I doubt seriously if I had been a first time quilter or this was the first time I ever entered anything into competition and read all of the comments that were posted, you can bet your bottom dollar, I would never post again or even try to make another quilt!
We also have a lot of 1st time Goggle+ users that are just adding comments to quilts and not clicking the 1+ button, so they may think that their comments count as votes, they don't till you click that little 1+ button. Personal, I counted 25 on mine alone!
So tomorrow night, all will be over for this round, the top 25 will be chosen and re-posted for round 2. The pages will load quicker and now everyone knows to let them load.. I think we will have a totally different out come by this time next week. Personally, I am on pins and needles!! I cant wait!!!!

Re: Please stop
O.K. Lisa, Then WHY take your vote away from me when ALL I did was AGREE with the comments being made.
I feel the communication totally broke down between Miss* and us quilters. We were told they would be on one place which got changed in mid-Stream. I did NOT make rude comments but several left comments for me. RUDE. All I did was agree with all the rest that some did not use the correct fabric. O.K,. so people got caught up in the moment. I put an apology on Miss* web-site and since then someone made the comment about people taking their vote away from me. Now everyone that reads the comments will wonder what the Heck!!! Geez, can we put this ALL to rest???
I am positive Miss* learned valuable lessons also on this. They need to give themselves MORE time to EDIT the pictures.
I also saw comments on here about you all voting for others on these Forum. How fair is that? A quilt should win on it's OWN merit. Again everyone is talking about this. Kind of like beating a dead horse.
