Default Oooh Jean! I have a question for you!! lol

Hey there Jean (or anyone else who can answer too),

I've been wanting to maybe look into making a jelly roll race quilt for my niece. I know one of the bigger rolls with 40 strips will be too big for her, but I'm afraid one of the smaller rolls will be too small. Also, I was wondering, I know I looked at lisapc's quilt, and I noticed they are "sideways" where the rows of strips run the length instead of the shorter length (hope that makes sense?) Here's one of the samples of Lisapc's quilt...

How big does the quilt get when you buy a jelly roll with lesser strips than the big jelly rolls? Do you think if I'm going to make a quilt that I should just go ahead and make one out of a bigger roll so that way she can grow into it? My niece is 1 years old. I don't know, just throwing some ideas around in my head.

That quilt looks like this now:
Oooh Jean! I have a question for you!! lol-happy-girl.jpg

    and it measures 34.5 x 41.5

I made it with a Big Lot's Jelly Roll that had 24 strips and took out 7 before I started for binding and whatever.

    Does that help?

I would either use all 24 strips for a 1 yr old and bind it with coordinating fabric or use up to 30 strips of a regular sized JR and make a patchwork animal or pillow or something with the extra.

Cute Cute! Yes for a 1 year old the whole Jelly Roll would be huge, but those Big Lots ones are great - only 4 colors in them, but I've found them pretty and really reasonable. Good luck, love how Lisa's turned out
