    Default My flash sewing Monday.....

It all started when I went up to make a surprise Aloha shirt for my husband out of some adorable fabric I bought over a year ago. At the time, I did not have a pattern and guessed on how much I would need....well, two yards is not enough!!! I called shops all the way from Seattle to Portland, including Fabric Depot where I originally bought it, however, nobody has any, much to my dismay.

Switch channels to the D9P I have been working on since last November (one year ago!). I had put it away after a couple months, but got it out the other day and started it up again. I now have 30 blocks done, and I squared them all up today....13" each. The way I am figuring, is I have 12 more blocks to do to make it a good sleeping underneath size, and I may add sashing on top of that to make it a tad longer and wider.

Hopefully, I will get it done by April to take up to the lake!

Keep going you'll get it done. Sorry about the other fabric maybe you could find a solid color that matchs and then do the print in the front and the solid on the back.

I should make him swim shorts!!! What man doesn't want monkeys and bananas all over their bottom half?

Here is the fabric, but I need it w/the black background. http://www.backporchquilter.com/shop...o1l11027su8066 I made him a lapquilt using it for the backing at the fmq class I took.....I went so far as to suggest I take that quilt apart and he looked at me like I was possessed!

shorts sound cool. But please don't take his quilt. I'm laughing remembering those ads where they cut up the hubbies bowling shirt to finish a quilt. Now you want to cut up a quilt to make a shirt. LOL. I can just see it.

Sounds like you had a good flash sewing day, except for finding out you didn't have enough fabric.

Hancock's of paducah has some of the black background: Hoffman The Last Banana Black at Hancocks.Paducah.com

I have not ordered from them before, but so far, they are the only one I have found that has it. Happy sewing!

OMG!!!! I just found it!! Of course the expedited shipping is going to kill me, but it will be worth it! At least it is on clearance for just under $4/yard! Ordered and paid for, keeping fingers crossed it will be here by Friday!!!!

They are great to order from. Just beware that they sell and price in half yard units.

Yes, I knew that. I've ordered from them in the past.

Thanks for the reminder! I think I originally paid $11/yard for it, so it was a deal, except for the shipping!
