Mission accomplished! Followed directions, took public transportation, translated the language, found out we walked right past the place when we got to this big mall! So we took a tour of the mall, finally found our store, and
I got five lovely cuts of European fabric! Can't say it was a bargain, still haven't mastered these currency exchanges ( we're in Prague, they don't use Euros, but crowns!). So proud and happy! Be back in the states Tuesday evening, barring transportation woes!
Fabric isn't cheap over here, although I think Prague is a little less pricey than, say, Stockholm. I hope you had a great trip!!!
I looked everywhere on my last trip and finally bought a pillowcase so I would have something cotton to use in a quilt when I got home.
We visited my son when he was stationed in Japan. He called his Realtor and she gave us directions to three stores. We ended up on the 7th floor of a building that turned out to be a department store. I found some cotton that have waterfowl on them..they look Japanese on them. I shut my eyes when I paid for them as it was pricy.
The kimono fabric from the kimono shop was priceless. I watched this little old man sitting on the floor in traditional dress, sewing by hand. I wanted one so bad. They were expressly made for you. There I didn't even dare ask the price.
I remember when we lived in Germany and I was buying fabric for a formal. Pure gold! But boy did I look sharp. Ahhh.
Fabric is the memories of our lives.
So happy that you found some. We have missed you Miss Jean. Sounds like you are having a great time though. Safe travels to you and your family.
Told you it was expencive in Europe.......
I am so glad you found some to take home, have a safe trip home!
I was gonna say... Klasien warned us! LOL. She needs to open a quilt shop!
I think MSQ should open a storage depot in the East Midlands in the UK! I would even source a unit for them and send out European orders!. Lol Of course that would not have anything to do with the fact that that is where I live..... Ahem.
I'm so glad you found fabric! Making a quilt out of those memories will be treasured.
My daughter is seeing quite a bit of the world with work. She's asked if there's anything I want from the places she goes. I told her fabric. So far I have pieces from France, Japan, and Australia. All the colors happen to blend well together so far. My plan is to embroider the name of each country on sashing strips between the 9 inch blocks I'll cut out. The only problem is that I'll have to wait quite a few years for her to finish her overseas assignments.
Glad you found some! It's super expensive here. I found a store here that sells €7 a meter. Heaven if your in Europe lol safe travels home
The clerk at WM told me one time that every time a certain lady visits here from the UK, she brings an empty suitcase & stocks up on fabric while in the USA. JCY
Sew glad you found fabric Jean....Safe Travels Home...We Miss You!
What a great trip and finally some Fabric! Safe journey home Jean, looking forward to seeing you on the boards again!
StarLover - what a lovely idea and I see someone posted about the International Sue Bonnet - That will make quite a beautiful quilt, can't wait to see it (down the road of course :-)

NO! It was freezing and windy, But I had my warm silk longjohns on every day, plus warm socks, scarf, hat and mittens, and wasn't intolerably cold. We went on walking city tours every day, ranging from 2-5 hours long, of course there is plenty of hot chocolate and "spirits" to warm you from the inside!
WELCOME HOME!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome home! Glad you had a wonderful time...
