Re: Sunday Night *Hoots* Open Mic
My real list is endless, so I will stick with what I need to finish before Christmas, in priority order.
-Tie up the loose ends and wrap up the SS packages and mail next weekend.
- assemble a quilted stocking for DGS. I have cross stitched 2 - 3" blocks, but still need to do the cuff. That will probably get added next year. Also need to assemble the stocking for DIL, but know I won't get to the cross stitched cuff this year. Maybe next.
-Sandwich and quilt my friends quilt (leftover from last Christmas)
- finish a coordinating table runner for same friend. Started, but still playing with the design)
- Sandwich a quilt a lap quilt for another co-worker
- I have a JRR top for someone else that is not big enough. I'm playing with ways to enlarge it, and just need to do it. Then I have to quilt it.:(
Way to much to do in a short amount of time, especially since 12 hours day at work will be starting soon. Very soon.
Re: Sunday Night *Hoots* Open Mic
I'm going to detour from lists. My stepson (I knew from four) had his first baby last Dec. He is throwing a first baby party the second month of Dec. I was going to do the cakes but my back is out. Anyway, I found out today that 300 people are coming! How do you feel about being in such a big group of people? Especially so much younger? I'm afraid to go because I have no clue where to sit or who talk to.
I can already picture how this day/night is going to go. Blah. I have done cakes for baby parties before and was invited to say. But that was just forty or so people.
Ugh, ugh, ugh.
Re: Sunday Night *Hoots* Open Mic
I'm just sitting around nervously waiting for the call from my Babylock dealer saying my machine is ready to come home. Every time I come in this sewing/computer room all I see is the empty space where my machine should be sitting. Makes me really nervous to take my machine to have it cleaned and serviced because I hear of people having trouble with theirs when they get them back. I've been cutting out some fabric for more fabric boxes and mug rugs for Christmas gifts so when my machine comes home I can just start sewing! Now I think I'll head for bed. Goodnight everyone...Genny

Woohoo! Two Christmases in your world!
Why on earth would someone throw a party for a 1 year old and invite 300 people? That's crazy.
Re: Sunday Night *Hoots* Open Mic
I'm sorry your MIL didn't acknowledge your precious gift. I know it eats you up not knowing, but I would let it go and move on. I learned this the hard way with my SIL who didn't like me. I tried several times to be her friend, only to get knocked down emotionally. I had to come to grips with the fact that some families are not as close as my own family. I quit trying and immediately felt a weight lifted from me.
Your MIL will never know the good person that you are.
My list is short.
- Make some snap bags for a church sale in December.
- Make 5 blocks for a BOM that I'm behind on.
- Decide on colors for the sashing and border of the BOM quilt.
- Buy some more white yardage for a periwinkle quilt I started.
There's more, but that's at the top of my list for now.
Re: Sunday Night *Hoots* Open Mic
Lorie............300 people at a baby shower.......holy cow........that is going to be a loooonnnnnnggggg day! If you feel like you need to go.......maybe just go for a little while & then tell them you need to leave.
Murphy..........I haven't had that (no response to gift) happen.........yet..........and hopefully it won't but I know it has happened to so many people on this forum. It is either no manners & common courtesy & rudeness or they are just clueless about the time, thought and amount of work that went into a quilt. It's probably one of those things we learn the hard way. I don't know whether I would ask about the quilt or not.........guess it would depend on the situation.
My to do list right now is:
Finish my mug rug for Christmas swap
Make several small wall hangings with flowers as Christmas gifts
Make pillowcases for younger ones in the family
The list for after Christmas is unbelievable long........so many things to try.......so many ideas.......my brain is full of ideas! :D
Re: Sunday Night *Hoots* Open Mic
I have a half an hour to get some sort of sewing done before the weekend is gone! UGH!
I love my husband, but having him home on Fridays might drive me to the loony bin! It has totally thrown off the schedule for the weekend. I have shuffled a few things around so hopefully tomorrow all I have to do is make a quick run to the school to help with Monday Mail in the kids backpacks and the rest of the day is for me to sew. I have a recipe for a chicken in the crockpot so no big dinner meal prep! Whoo Hoo!
As for not receiving acknowledgement for a gift quilt I have heard that happens. I am very careful of whom I give my more involved quilts to. They seem to thank me more often. I have sent my share of tied(no-sew) fleece couch blankies to folks who are thrilled to get them, and I know they wouldn't see the difference between those and the one I made with 1500 pieces.
I have also been known to send a photo of my daughter using the blankies and afghans she received to the maker, even now that she's 7. E-mail makes it pretty easy, but even a photo tucked into an envelope with a quick note makes them happy.
Well, now I have about 20 minutes to get some stitches laid down!
Night!
Re: Sunday Night *Hoots* Open Mic
Oh I probably would HAVE to speak out, depending on relationship with boyfriend or husband. Even just to call and flat out ask - So did you get the Quilt I made you? I haven't had a call from you letting me know, so thought I would ask? Simple, and direct. What she says after that - Well take a DEEP breath before you answer. I adored my MIL she was a lady who taught me to be polite at all times, rather than saying nasty things (but boy do I think and even write them sometimes hehehe). I would have to at least politely asked if she got it yet? Nothing rude about that?
Lori?? I have to deal with thousands of people when we are at Faire, it's SO hard on me physcially and mentally. It is like throwing a switch "On" and be on with the smiles and chit chat and I hate being around crowds hahaha Yes you should go but just pop in and say you can't stay for whatever your reason is!! Your back is hurting :-( sounds like a reason just to stop by to say Happy Birthday little one, but a huge crowd of young folks all making noise and talking Ick! (((((Hugs)))) you'll need a big hug after that hon.
Yes, everyone needs to Quit posting new links to Cool projects until after June next year so we can finish our current lists :icon_rolleyes: oh and Show and Tell - always something great in there that catches my eye and OH yes I want to make that too *sigh*
Glad it's not only me with a list longer a few years worth  and yes, Always cut a new project out instead of working on one you've begun Isn't that they way we all do?
:-Debbie
Oh and a Big Welcome to our New Night Owl too! Glad you figured out how to post and how cool the almost 5 year old. Sounds like a fun project.
Re: Sunday Night *Hoots* Open Mic
Yikes! Just realized I also have to make two fleece blankets before Christmas. You know the kind - layer the two pieces of fleece, cut strips all the way around and tie together. This would have been the perfect project for when my machine was in the shop, but did I do it?
Re: Sunday Night *Hoots* Open Mic
Oh, was wondering where all the Night Owls were because no one was at the chat so I began on thread there.
Glad I found you guys and have some company these early morning hours.
Murphy, What I do is call or email and say I'm going over old bills and mail receipts and want to make sure the quilt I sent arrived because I had it insured. If she answers Yes and doesn't say anything more you know your effort was in vain but let it go as either she's clueless or is looking for an argument.
What do I have on my To Do List for this week
Get my Secret Santa Pal's box in the mail, it's all done but the wrapping.
Get food for Thanksgiving dinner
Decide what to bring to Turkey Soup and Sandwich party on Friday and
Bake some fruit breads for Sunday when I met my brother and sisters for visit to our parent's grave.
Good luck to all of us on completing our To Do Lists.
