If I do any Black Friday sales, it will be at Missouri Star Quilt Company.
If I didn't have to work it, I would not be out. I hate how angry people get and the yelling and pushing, shoving and grabbing of things. Its bad enough I have to witness this and see the nastiness. I will never ever shop on black friday...except online.
I guess I have to admit that I'm getting old! I had to look up who this is! Now, if Sean Connery or Burt Reynolds was there - it might be incentive enough for me to go!
I have only been shopping once on Black Friday - never again. Cyber Monday is more my style!
Not planning any shopping black friday, just staying home and enjoying family visitors. I suspect we will bake and eat and play:)
Two years ago I went to Joann's on Black Friday and I'll never do it again. Lines after lines of people waiting to get fabric cut and very few cashiers to check people out...way understaffed. If I'd stayed long enough to get waited on I'd have spent the whole day there...not worth it to me. We always go Black Friday shopping but Joann's is one I won't be wasting any time on. Genny
Amy -- I want to thank you for the heads up on the Black Friday bargains. I never shop at Joann's, in part because I avoid chain stores when I can, in part because there's not one nearby. But our family drove to St. Louis today to shop and we stopped at Joann's and I got several bargains -- 11 yards of fabric (ranging from $1.74 to $3.99 a yard), an Oslio iron, the buy-one-get-one-free Ott light combo, and a collection of 26 spools of thread.
I never would have know about these deals without your post and I'm grateful.
My daughter said a lady got kicked out of Big Lots (of all places) yesterday.....over a $5 savings on something.
Last night DH & I went to JoAnn's and picked up an Ott Lite for his shop. I believe it was the one they actually have on sale today but they gave us the sale price.
I'm glad my list was helpful to others! I was in line at 5:45, probably 7th in line out of 20, and got all I was after. I got 10 spools of thread, a batting, 24x36 cutting mat, a tote for all my quilt supplies to take to classes, new scissors, and 21.5 yards of fabric. I spent $116 and saved $221. I think I underpurchased on Thread and Batting though, and am thinking of going back now to get more.
Joanne needs to limit quantities. Around here one or two people will buy up everything and then resell it at a slightly higher price on Ebay.
Went to Hancock for some iron on fleece I needed for a project. The junk that was on sale. Most people had carts full of fleece (I hate the stuff) and I mean 10+ bolts. Wasn't a wasted day, though. Sold a dress form I no longer needed. Lady got a bargain, and I got rid of a space-taker-upper.
Didn't need the scissors special. I have a whole load of scissors I bought for family use years ago. All have different colored handles. Bought a Fiskars sharpener, and those scissors are still going. I use the Fiskars squeeze type scissors. The handles on the others keep slipping up my fingers.
