Default Me and My Big Mouth

Last night driving home from work, Jim was telling me about everything coming up at his work in the next few weeks. They're having their Thanksgiving potluck this week, doing four weeks of Secret Santa (they draw names and give one small gift per week), and having an auction to raise money for their Christmas party. Jim plans to auction off his services in the form of smoked meat (the things that man can do with a grill!) That got me thinking about something he'd said way back in February or March and before I thought it through I heard myself asking, "Didn't you ask me earlier in the year if I could make a quilt to auction off? What was that for?" "Oh, yeah, I did. That would be a good idea. How much would it cost to make a couple of quilts?" Thinking he was kidding, I asked him about sizes. Nope, not kidding. He would like me to make a baby quilt and a lap quilt in the next two weeks.

Last night was spent wading through my stash and trying to decide what to make. I got slightly sidetracked and made a Christmas table runner. Just needs to be quilted. Told him if he doesn't want it for the auction, I'll either keep it or give it as a present to someone.

I have a bag of quilt blocks for a baby quilt, so that's half done. And I have a bazillion charm packs that are about to turn into a lap quilt or two.

I feel your pain. I have been wishing that Santa will lend me some of his Elves to help me get everything done myself.

Would hubby be okay with lots of small stuff instead of quilts?

That might be the way to go, especially if the folks who will be doing the bidding don't have any idea of what quilts are worth.

Meli, I feel your pain! You will do fine! I just wish someone would confine me to my quilting corner for the next month!

Gotta love those hubbys. As if a quilt can just zip itself together like nothing.
Because I bake so much mine, and my two boys, were forever coming home and saying, "I told __________(fill in the name/organization) that you could provide # of food for tomorrow>" ARGH. The latest was this past Easter. The hi leaguers at church were raising money for their spring trip to help repair houses in the Appalachian Mountains. They had decided to host an Easter Breakfast. Thursday I get a call from a hi leaguer asking if I can make cinnamon rolls for the breakfast. Sure, not a problem. How many do you need? 80 please. I guess what we need to do is not come through once and see if it gives them more of a time sense, but I doubt that it would work. And yes, I brought 100 still warm, frosted, cinnamon rolls to church. Went to the 8:30am service, came home and went to bed. I had only had a 45 nap sitting at the kitchen table.

You know I have a roll of duck tape for our mouths.....
