Non-Flash sewing for the week
OK, so this isn't flash sewing, but non-flash sewing. What does everyone hope to accomplish this week? Those UFO's staring at you? A present that you need to get in the mail this week? Something for Thanksgiving?
My list: Finish my IQ project. Start and Finish my mug rug. Get my Secret Santa package in the mail. And then start and finish a Thanksgiving table runner.
What's on your list?
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
By the end of the week I want to be able to say I am quilting my IQ. Other than that I have a few gifts to pick up for my secret swap box and then get that ready to go.
It just feels like the holidays are sneaking up on me so fast this year. I am always behind!
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
I don't think the speed of holidays coming ever slows down! I might start my presents for next year's Christmas in January. Along with all my craft fair projects - why did I think I could do craft fairs this year with only a month's notice?
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
I am having a flash sewing week of one....I have 5 quilts to finish up...a few that are almost there but it will take almost all of my free time to get them done and ready for the holidays...have to deliver them next week....so running out of time but that is when I seem to do some of my best work....good luck this week everyone!
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
My list is too long to mention. But since you asked about this week, well it's work during the day and then get two quilts done so I can get them to the quilters this weekend and to top it all off, I only have three good nights to sew. Tonight I have some errands to run so I will be sewing about 9:30 10:00 until whenever and then I have an obligation tomorrow night so definately no sewing tomorrow. So it gets done when it gets done. Can't stress over it or nothing will get done.
Have a good week.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
I still have my last finished top on the design wall because I am procrastinating about what color backing to get. I've been using my embroidery machine to test out some new designs I got. Took some test designs I did last year and made them into hotpads and practiced my slip stitch and blind hem stitching by hand. Been practicing my FMQ. I got one quilt sandwiched and waiting for me to feel confident enough to start quilting it. Maybe next week I'll start quilting it or maybe not.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
I'm working on a Sashiko panel and it is taking a lot longer than I expected. So that is my after-work evening handiwork when the TV is on.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
I plan to quilt my IQ project, and finish a gift I started making today. LOL. I have some things to be mailed to forum members packaged and ready to go to the P.O. I'm meeting two really great women for lunch, one tomorrow and one on Wed. Later in the week I want to shop for my Thanksgiving dinner.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
it's a long one -
-finish up swap items and get ready to mail
-start and finish a quilt for Christmas gift (from LAST YEAR!)
-Quilt another top that was pieced for a Christmas gift last year.
Finish a quilt top and quilt yet another leftover from last Christmas.
16 Pillowcases ( will have some help with these, but got to deliver them tomorrow)
Need to make a table runner for a Christmas gift
Finish two stockings, including counted cross stitch cuffs.
It's only mid-November - I have PLENTY of time!
Oh, yeah, and work twelve hours a day....
and almost forgot - DS is in a weekend baseball tournament and hour north of here and I work a half hour in the other direction. Yes. It will be an easy week.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
My week is planned for finishing my Iron Quilt challenge, and finishing up some Christmas presents with my granddaughter on Saturday.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
I'm making a Christmas outfit for my radiologist. I beat breast cancer, and still have 6 more radiation treatments. My radiologist had heard about how much I love sewing for children and asked me about the possibility of making something for his 5-year-old daughter. I made her a Thanksgiving shirt that the doctor loved, and have finished the Christmas shirt. Just need to make the 3-tiered skirt, matching pants and sequined vest. It's very unusual. Santa's hat on the shirt has leopard fur and the skirt and pants are leopard. The skirt has a red tulle ruffle that shows about 2 inches under the bottom. She'll wear red tights with it. Cute outfit.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
Yeah! Can we add 1 extra month between now and Christmas?? Sounds like we all need it
Tonight I'm beginning to quilt my Iron Quilt - a bit nervous because I bought Sulky and Gutterman to see which one my sewing machines likes better.
Pillowcase for Ruby (at least one)
Finish DH's California King Quilt - Needs borders, backing and quilting before Christmas *sigh*
7 Grandkids and no clue what I'm doing yet!!! Began an applique project without knowing How to do it -- got 1 panel done and put it to the side until I learn more.
Quilting is the Best and Most loved part of every project, I can't wait to just sit and quilt quilt quilt tonight!! If you don't hear from me, I'm buried under my quilts hehehe
That's just a few items! Good luck all
Debbie (OH and we will begin Flash Sewing Friday night too helping give us all another Big Boost :-)
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
Finished one rag quilt yesterday and am putting the second one together now; hope to finish all four that I started LAST year for the grandkids. I have 3 finished unless I decide to put borders on two of them. Also want to put borders on a lap quilt so I can get it and another one to the quilter by the end of the week. If I can get that much accomplished, I will consider it a successful week.
Oh, I also HAVE to finish my rug mug; almost forgot about that one! I want to finish handquilting the outer border for a baby quilt that I have been working on all summer it seems. I only work on it if I have a free evening to watch tv.
I would work on my IQ project, but am still waiting for fabric; may have to forget about that one getting finished on time to enter it. My DD is getting it when it DOES get finished, so that is ok: not going to stew about it.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
Maybe we should call this "Squeeze In" sewing. We are squeezing in the time whenever we can manage!
I have the blocks done and now I need to finish assembling the tops.
I have three of the pillow cases pinned for initial construction, two more to go.
The flannel pants need to be elastic-ed & hemmed.
I MUST get that other thing done as it is a giftie for my box.
Ugh. I do have a UFO night at our new LQS. Hopefully that will help!
Good luck to us all! I hope we all have new lists for the Friday start of Flash Sewing!
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
I just counted. I now have 24 projects, all due by Christmas Eve. Thank God I have a glass of wine on my desk tonight.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
Well, my goals for this week BEFORE flash sewing begins is..
Make last giftie for my SS - got that done tonight! Yay
Write up my little notes to go with each month of gifties
Make a trial run pair of PJ pants to see if I like them and if I do, will make some for my daughters for Christmas.
Do a little clean up in my sewing room so I'm not in such a mess
If I can get these things done before Friday night, I'll be very happy.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
I need to finish my sons fleece jacket before it gets really cold

I have UFO's but they are on back burners
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
I am working this week, but things I want to get done before Christmas....three more baby bibs, baby rag quilt, minkee scarves (waiting on my fabric from M*), and finish up a flannel quilt for my daughter in law!
I have lots of projects I want to work on! I want to try and get some of my UFO's quilted before the end of the year, they are stacking up!
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
Fabric I was waiting on for my IQ quilt, arrived yesterday. So now I might have a chance of getting it done on-time :) I aim to have the borders, backing pieced and it sandwiched by Friday. Also have to finish pj's for my 5 year old for her pj day at school this week.
Re: Non-Flash sewing for the week
LOL..non-flash....love it! Well first I need to wind a bobbin and finish out a seam on my sister's quilt. Then I want to do some cleaning because hubby has finally decided to put lights up in my sewing room so I can see. Don't know if I'll get much else done this week.
