Re: Stillborn Beravement Quilt Group opened
As I mentioned, Kat and Matt's dear friends have just been touched by this tragedy the other day...
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that Laura and I announce our beautiful Layla was born sleeping on 11/11, a month and a day before she was due to enter the world. We snuggled and loved our perfect 6lb 9oz baby girl and she was given every good wish that has been sent her way by so many people that love her.
We are just starting to comprehend, grieve and heal, in every sense. The outpouring of love from our friends and family has been incredible, and we thank you from the bottom of our broken hearts. Keep sending that good energy our way - we are going to need it in the days to come."
Please say a prayer for this young couple and Layla, a beautiful Angel who has joined our Lord for reasons only He knows.

Sue, count me in. Another wonderful way for us quilters to help someone that is hurting.
Ruby, I have all of you in my prayers. Lisa

So, so, sad.
Can you imagine what it means to parents, to have a beautiful little quilt to wrap this 'little one' up in, for the short time they have with him or her?
A quilt would mean so much, for a years to come, to a grieving family.

Count me in as well.
Our first grandson was stillborn full-term at 7lb. 3oz. 3 years ago. He was so beautiful. Our hearts still hurt from the loss. The nursed were so wonderful to my daughter and her husband tho. They made plaster molds of both his hands and feet and the side of his head. They took many photos of him and well as contacted a professional photographer who volunteer for those situations.
You're correct when you say they do things differently now. It wasn't that long ago when parents weren't allowed to hold the baby or even sometimes see it. I'm so thankful that I could hold him and gaze upon his face for a few precious minutes that will never be forgotten.
Looking forward to get started...

As the grandmother of five boys, (four are my daughter's ) I can't even imagine your pain.... And I am so sorry you and your family has to endure such an awful experience....
I am so thankful that things are so different today than they were..... The new ways acknowledge the loss of a previous child, and allow family to truly grieve.....

Such a heartbreaking experience for your daughter and her husband, and you as the grandmother. Thirty years ago, it was very different indeed, we had very little time with our children in those two separate occasions.
We have a beautiful daughter who blessed us with three grandchildren, who are our loves. We'll always think of our three children though, just like you will always included your first grandchild.
Thankfully things are done with more compassion today and these blankets will help these parents in a small way.

Do you ever use a fat quarter? It 's the right size for the smallest. quilts
Re: Stillborn Beravement Quilt Group opened
Absolutely! The pic I posted this morning, under group photos, is made with a fat quarter, and a 2.5" contrasting border fabric. Very basic. But a 'little something', all the same...
