Well, it's a quilt. Not bound yet, but it's a quilt. I feel like I've been run over by a truck, but I am so glad I got this project to the almost finish line!

I am sure it is better than you think. I can't wait to see everyone's entries. Mine is actually very simple. But was fun to do.
I haven't finished piecing mine yet but am close. I hope to have it done by the end of this weekend so I can take my time in quilting it. Good luck!
Due to my mis-cuts this weekend, I am on hold on mine. Waiting patiently for the mail man, Monday was a holiday...... I think the rest will go quickly, as long as I cut it right this time!! Haven't decided how I am going to quilt it though. Guess I could do some sketching while waiting for the fabric. :) In the meantime, I have been working on some pillow cases for Ruby.
Jean, I am sure yours is gorgeous! We are all so critical of our own work - I wonder why?
Since I went back to work 3 weeks ago mine has sort of been on hold. Never knew that work took up so much of my time! Well, today, with no power in the office I left after 2 hours and came home. I did all I could do from my smart phone as far as answering emails and taking care of phone messages before I left so I didn't feel too bad.
I came home and sewed all my blocks together and now I just need to sew the rows together. Borders, sandwiching and quilting might happen this weekend.
Jean, I'm with Lisa... Can't wait to see what you.....and everyone else did... The quilts are going to be gorgeous! lovely is oe of my favorite lines, so I'm eager to see what everyone did with it...
Well so far I have spent close to 70 hours on mine and the top isn't even done yet. It will hopefully be finished in the next 2 days, and I can get started on quilting it!
I WAS looking forward to the contest, now I am more feeling over it already. I have never entered a competition before, and now I know why I usually avoid them! This is stressful!
O.K. my question on the IQ contest is: How to take a great pic??? The best place I know is outside with the sun over my left shoulder. Yes, it has been sunshiney for the last 5 days, but Alas, my quilt is not done yet to take the stupid pic. Go Figure!!!
I did one but didn't like the white strips I put in it. Just did not "Pop" enough so have been working on another one. Almost ready to quilt it. My passion is choosing the fabrics for my quilts, putting the top together then I lose interest in it. UGH. I do need to change that attitude. Right???
Can't wait to see all the "Lovely's" we come up with. Mercy, I do not want to win the sewing machine as I already have 5 of them. I SO want to win the $500.00 to MSQC. Yes, that is my goal. What is all of your's???
Jan I am the world's WORST photographer! And I don't want another sewing machine either, at least not one like the Babylock Rachel.
I am SURE it is a LOVELY machine, but I have 3 that sit out in use at all times, 2 of which are SWEET embroidery machines, one that lives in his travel case, and a serger. My desire is the Missouri Star shopping spree also!
And...WOW you and I share the same passions too. I LOVE the thrill of picking fabrics and making the tops. Once the top is done, I am pretty much OVER it.
Cathryn, it isn't supposed to be this stressful. It is a fun contest. My first time too. It took less that a day to make my top, (actually made 2) and another day to quilt and bind. I just had fun with it. My 6 yr old GD actually helped with the lay out, lol. It is lap size so not to big.
I know Marilyn! I am just NOT a competitive, contest entering kind of person. So just stepping out of my comfort zone is stressful! But I LOVE this fabric, and as soon as I saw it I had a vision of what I wanted to do with it.
It just happens to be extremely labor intensive and sooooo very very time consuming.
The other stressful part is the deadline. I spent so many years sewing to meet a deadline, it was such a WONDERFUL relief to finally be over all that. For this quilt I was late starting because I HAD to finish the quilts for my Aunts, now I am feeling that deadline pressure again and am not liking it!
I was uninspired by Lovely, even though I love the colors in it. I was looking for something different to do with it, once I found an idea I liked, I got more interested. And while it was labor intensive, it didn't take me 70 hours! I can't wait to see everyone's creations!
Now I'm really happy with it, it is finished and I will take my pictures tomorrow, hopefully it will be sunny. I really do like it now that it is finished. It fits my queen bed.
I am a little stressed too... Mine is 12 blocks...with sashing but I only have 10 blocks done... then I have to put it all together and quilt it. ughhh where has the time gone???
I would get the fabric me thinks!! I don't know...I actually want all the prizes...lol
Mine involved lots of curves. I had never done curves before, and really don't like the outcome. I'm glad I did it, but I wouldn't use the Lovely fabric again, and now know what not to do with curves. So, this will be a giveaway quilt. Mine is 36x36 and I still need to sandwich quilt and bind it.
Mine will be 73 x 67, IF I ever get it finished!
My IQ is sandwiched and ready to be quilted this weekend. I have found the process somewhat stressful too, probably because of the deadline. I also want it to be as good as I can possibly make it. I'm hoping for a sunny day to take pics too.
I would love any of the prizes :D
I'm feeling the deadline pressure too, and can't say I like it. Wish I was working on it now, but I'm as far as I can go; waiting on fabric. I'm torn between finishing it now, without borders to get it done on time for the contest, or waiting and making it like I'd envisioned, for my 5 year old. I'll likely go with the latter.
I would have been over the moon for any of the prizes!
I'm really looking forward to seeing all the entries.
I am anxious to see all the quilts. I don't have my done but hope to have it done this weekend. My granddaughter (12 1/2) is coming out and she loves quilting so I think she can help me with the layout. It is fun to have someone who wants to quilt with me every time she comes out. Good think I have that large stash!!
Phew! I got my picture submitted this morning! Glad it got finished this week, I had my doubts on Monday!
I don't really need the machine either. I want some of the other choices.
I hope to sandwich my quilt tomorrow, then quilt it and bind it next weekend. Unless we get rain during the weekend, mine will get finished next week. I thought this was alot of fun. I love the material, they are my favorite colors. Sew whether I win or not....I will have a quilt I will be keeping.
This fabric didn't inspire me at first then I made "mis-cuts but am thankful I bought 4 charm packs and some yardage - other than 1 1/2 borders left, mine is nearing my FAV part - quiling away!!!
BTW does anyone own a Fuji Finepick 770? Somehow there's got to be a way to take "littier" megabyte photo's as I get about 4or 5 and run out of memory??? If myold Kodack was working I would feel much more confident taking a good photo hmmm
Good luck all, I think mine will be an oversize Queen and DO like it better when its cut small to hide what I think is a bit "over the top" purple ugly hehehe
Not sure I will have mine done by the deadline, but when it is done it will be twin sized. Mine started as a Christmas present for my mom, but now that it is coming along, my kids want it... decisions, decisions!
I would like any of the prizes! I actually will just be happy to get it done on time-since even that will be pushing my limits! I only have 2 days left to work on it - due to family needs, work and travel plans for Thanksgiving!
I am working on one too. I don't expect to win, but I sure would love that sewing machine. I am sewing on my very first machine which is a cheapie starter model with no bells and whistles.
Since I didn't get my charm pack until after Nov 1st, I am still piecing. I hope to get all the top stitching done so I can complete the blocks pieced. My Navy daughter comes home next Tuesday; I predict I will probably be to the last minute getting this project done in time! It has been a creative journey thus far....
