Default To Oliso or to not Oliso - that is the question

Joanns has the Oliso TG1600 on sale for $59.99 on Black Friday weekend, down from $129.99. Currently I have a Proctor Silex $10 iron from WM, which does not get hot enough, and is very lightweight. So, to buy the Oliso, or to buy a different iron, is the question. This is the blue model.

I found the Oliso to be too heavy for me, since I sew (and iron) for hours at a time. Am I a wimp? Yes, I am. But it is so wicked cool it would be fun to have one! That seems like a great price for such a good iron. I've never seen a blue one. How is it different from the yellow one?

Oh boy, that sounds like a steal! I am debating about asking my family (all of them) for one for Christmas. Only problem is I don't iron anything but fabric and they get mad when they have to come to the sewing room to iron there own stuff. I would give them the old iron of course!

I bought one at the fair this year. I won't be lying when I tell you it takes some getting used to!

Wow that sounds like a Bargin!!!

Ok deleted most of my post because I went to J's and read the reviews. No way I'd pay that for an iron that "most" report it quits working too fast. My Sunbeam is from my 1st marriage (1970's)... wish they made things sturdy still instead of for a Toss away society :-(

I have heard that this iron has problems...leaking, not working, etc,,, to be honest, I would never spend more than I had to on an iron. I 'd rather buy more fabric. They look heavy, and too big to me... I usually buy Black & Decker, Proctor Siilex, or another inexpensive brand.... An irn is just something I would never pay a lot of money for..

The blue one isn't the 1600, it's the 1050. The 1050 is what's in Joann's ad. Walmart and other places have them for 99.00 everyday prices.

It's a 1600 watt iron vs 1800 watts for the yellow and black, but still a good iron. I have the 1600 and love it.

I love my Oliso iron. My local quilt shop uses one too.

The reviews are making me wonder whether to buy it or not as well. I have the cash, but I also don't have an income, and I'm fully aware that my quilt budget isn't unlimited. Michelem - I realized that it wasn't the right model description - thanks for pointing that out!
