Crayon Quilts ?
Hi !
Several Years ago, a friend of mine and I made a Crayon Quilt. She had a book of images to color ( it was a complete coloring book ) with children from the 1950-1960.
To make these quilts, there are instructions online and you need to use Fabric Crayons ( I purchased a box 64 of Prang Fabric Crayons during the time we made the quilts, but didn't purchase the coloring books as I should have.
I live in Michigan, but if someone can direct me to where to purchased coloring books like this, I would be really grateful.
The coloring books were awesome ! A little expensive I will admit, but just fabulous ! There was coloring books images of children in the 1920's to 1930's, 1940 to 1950's etc.
If you know what I am referring to here, please let me know as I have a friend who's niece is having a baby, and I would love to make a quilt for this gal !!

Re: Crayon Quilts ?
Not sure about a book but I have seen quilts where people have drawn images on them, coloured them with crayons and then set the crayon with an iron. I always thought they used regular crayons though, but I could be wrong. I've never made one, I've just seen them and have been bugged by my Mom to show her how to make one lol

Hey, Little Red Caboose - check here - if you find a picture you like you should be able to double click, click, copy, paste into your graphic program, resize and print. There are some very special prints here: https://www.google.com/search?q=vint...w=1408&bih=608
BTW I always wanted a little red caboose in my front yard and had an opportunity to purchase one but my husband thought I was off my gourd . . . again! LOVE TRAINS~~
Be warned. I am BORED.
This could be dangerous.
When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
They are usually 90 degrees.
A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

Re: Crayon Quilts ?
I have not seen quilts done this way, but remember helping my sister in law do a project with her sons Kindergarten or 1st grade class - we ironed the pictures that they drew onto a white t-shirt. That nephew is now 33....
One thing we learned was to not have the kids put names or words on them, since they come out reversed.....hindsight is 20/20....lol
Sounds like a really fun project. Hope you find what you are looking for! Lisa

If you color on paper, then transfer, you get a softer look.
Coloring directly on your fabric gives you brighter hues.
Any crayons will work, just make sure to protect your ironing board cover, and cover any crayoned area before ironing.

I'd avoid the ones marked "Washable" as they don't hold the color as well.

Re: Crayon Quilts ?
This is such a cute idea. My Sunday School class and I made a crayon quilt where the kids outlined around their hands and wrote their name and prayer request inside the outline. We made the blocks in class and I turned it into a quilt at home. It still hangs in the SS classroom more than 20 years later. Now those kids have kids of their own.
