Dot to Dot Quilting with Angela Walters
I bought this class for $14.99 and loved it. I thought it was WELL WORTH TAKING. Anyone out there who is thinking of trying it out, go for it. Angela Walters is a great teacher, very informative and easy to understand and listen to. I just finished it and look forward to trying some of her ideas out on a quilt top I have all ready.
Re: Dot to Dot Quilting with Angela Walters
Thanks for the info! I was wondering how that class was.
Re: Dot to Dot Quilting with Angela Walters
I took this class as well. I am on the other side - I thought it was horrible and let craftsy know as well. Apparently enough other people did too because they not only gave us our money back - they let us keep the class and gave us any other class we wanted for free. They have had many complaints.
I like Angela - I even have her dot to dot book and love it. So I was extremely disappointed in the class. Her work was shoddy - at least what she showed us in the class.
I would never tell anyone not to take it, only to be cautious.
Re: Dot to Dot Quilting with Angela Walters
I didn't know she had a book on Dot to Dot quilting. I'll have to look that up.
If by shoddy work you mean her lines weren't straight, I totally agree. She certainly could have done a much better job when showing us how to quilt the blocks, but she did explain it very well, I think. I am glad I did not pay $30 for the class but only half that. I don't know if there was enough content for $30.
I like that she showed so many examples at the end of the class, though I wish she had shown how to make more of the variations. I know I'm going to have fun trying out her designs. Lots of my quilts are done with squares and I never know what kind of quilting designs to put in them. Now I have lots of ideas.
That was classy of them to give you a free class when you expressed your concerns. Good for you for bringing it to their attention and good for them for honoring their commitment to excellence in their classes.
Re: Dot to Dot Quilting with Angela Walters
I took the class and thought that what she was teaching was great, but most of the classes were around 6-8 minutes long. A couple were 8-10 minutes. Most of the classes that I've taken were much longer than that. I, too, received a free class...not because I complained...but because they had gotten complaints from a lot of other people. As I said...she is teaching some good stuff...just wish she had done a little more.

I agree about the quality of the work. She is great on the long-arm machine, but I think she should have practiced more on the regular sewing machine before she did the video. Her "close enough is good enough" didn't ring true with me on some of her quilting. LOL
Re: Dot to Dot Quilting with Angela Walters
I already have her book, but for those of you who have both the book and the class, is the class worth having too or is the book just as good or better?

For me I wish I had the book first and knew about how the class content was not great. I love the book and got much more from it then the class.
Just my opinion though. There were others who liked the class. As I mentioned earlier - I did like Angela just not the class.

Thanks :) I've been holding off on the class because I heard it wasn't great and bought the book instead but still wondered if it would be better with both. Sounds like I made the right choice!
Re: Dot to Dot Quilting with Angela Walters
Can anyone help me find her book on Dot to Dot quilting? I found one by another quilter but not Angela. Does it have a different title?
Really, I can't find it anywhere and after taking this class, I really want it!
Re: Dot to Dot Quilting with Angela Walters
Whoops! The book I have isn't buy Angela Walters, I thought it was because it has the same name! Mine is by Cheryl Barnes: Quilting Dot-To-Dot Patterns for Today's Machine Quilter (Golden Threads): Barnes: 9781574329025: Amazon.com: Books
Don't I feel stupid now, I didn't even buy the right book lol It's a good one though! I like it :)
Re: Dot to Dot Quilting with Angela Walters
I'm so glad you posted this! I was looking at this class just this morning and wondered if it would be worth it. I just signed up for Craftsy this week. Thanks for the "review"!

I also have Natalia Bonner's book, Beginner's Guide to FMQ, it's another good one and even comes with a few quilt patterns :) But will likely pick up this book too, I'm a book and gadget junkie!
